Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified flange supplier in Mumbai, India, stocking industrial flanges across all major material families for immediate dispatch. We stock Hastelloy (C276, C22, C2000), Inconel (600, 625, 718), Incoloy (800/800H/800HT, 825), Monel (400, K500), Nickel 200/201, Duplex Steel (UNS S31803/S32205), and Super Duplex Steel (S32750, S32760). Per client designs and project specifications, custom flanges are available.

Flanges are made from forged stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, and nickel alloys with chemical compositions prescribed by ASTM/ASME material specifications (e.g., ASTM A182, B564). Plate flanges are limited to low-pressure service, such as AWWA. They feature bolt holes for secure, detachable joints and raised faces to compress sealing gaskets. Products include welded neck, slip-on, blind, threaded, socket weld, lap joint, long weld neck, orifice, spectacle blind, and ring spacer in sizes from NPS ½ (15 NB / DN15) to NPS 48 (1200 NB / DN1200), with custom dimensions up to DN5000. Class 150–2500 LBS and EN/DIN PN6–PN400 are pressure classifications.

Dimensional standards include ASME B16.5 (NPS ½ to 24), ASME B16.47 Series A and B (NPS 26-60), EN 1092-1, DIN, JIS B2220, and GOST 12820/12821. Face types include raised face (RF), ring-type joint (RTJ), flat face (FF), tongue and groove (T&G), and male and female. Every order includes PMI reports, EN 10204/3.1B mill test certifications, and full traceability. In Mumbai, Nicorex works with the pharmaceutical, maritime, power, petroleum, and chemical industries.

Flanges Standards

ASME B16.5 and B16.47 standards cover various flange sizes and classes, while international projects utilise EN 1092-1, JIS B2220, or GOST 12820/12821 specifications to meet specific Japanese or European regional engineering requirements.

Flanges Dimensions

Flange outer diameters, bolt circles, and thickness meet ASME B16.5 specifications. A class 150 NPS-6 flange has an outside diameter of 279.4 mm, while a class 2500 has 381.0 mm.

What are Flanges?
Flanges are forged steel collars that bolt to pipe, valve, or vessel ends. One gasket, two flanges, and bolts form a pressure-tight seal. Flanges allow pipe disassembly for maintenance, hydrostatic testing, and instrument access without cutting.
Flanges connect pipes, valves, pumps, and vessels into bolted piping systems that can be opened for inspection or equipment replacement without welding.

B16.5 covers NPS ½–24 in Class 150–1500; Class 2500 is limited to NPS ½–12. B16.47 covers NPS 26–60, limited to weld neck and blind only.

For Class 900+, RTJ is recommended for metal-to-metal gasket sealing. Class 150–600 uses RF with spiral wound gaskets per ASME B16.20. FF is only for cast iron mating. RTJ and RF are not interchangeable.

Use ASME B16.5 P-T rating tables. Find your material group and max temperature, then read across to the class where the rated pressure exceeds the operating pressure. Example: F316L at 300°C / 30 bar needs a minimum Class 300.
Forged flanges are fatigue-resistant due to aligned grain. Plate flanges are cut from rolled plate. ASME pressure applications require forging. The plate only works for low-pressure AWWA C207.

The improper selection of gaskets, improper tightening of bolts, damage to faces, and improper alignment are some of the common causes for leakage. Gaskets should be selected according to ASME B16.20, and torque should be performed in sequence according to ASME PCC-1. The faces should also be inspected.
To select the right flange, match the fluid, temperature, and pressure against ASME B16.5 P-T tables to determine the correct rating and material grade, such as A105 or F316L.
