- Stainless Steel Flux Core Wire
Stainless steel flux core wire is a tubular consumable filled with a flux compound that shields the weld pool from air. It works well on austenitic, dissimilar, and stabilised stainless steel grades using the FCAW process.
SS flux cored wire deposits weld metal with strong corrosion resistance, low spatter, and fast deposition rates. These wires resist oxidation, pitting, and intergranular attack.
Engineers choose stainless steel FCAW wire for its high deposition rate on thick sections and all-position capability on pipe and plate joints.
Common applications include pressure vessels, process piping, heat exchangers, and storage tanks. Petrochemical, food processing, and power generation industries rely on stainless steel flux cored welding wire daily.
We at Nicorex Alloys stock and supply these wire grades from our Mumbai warehouse. As one of the leading stainless steel flux core wire suppliers and stockists, we serve fabricators and EPC contractors across India. We source these products from recognised producers.
Complete Range of Stainless Steel Flux Core Wire
| Product Grade | Best Metals They Can Weld | Reason |
|---|---|---|
|
AWS Class E308LT1-1/T1-4 Flux Core
|
AISI 304, 304L austenitic stainless steel | Low carbon deposit resists intergranular corrosion in 18Cr-8Ni base metals |
|
AWS Class E309LT1-1/T1-4 Flux Core
|
Dissimilar joints of carbon steel to stainless steel | Over-alloyed 23Cr-12Ni chemistry offsets dilution from the carbon steel side |
|
AWS Class E316LT1-1/T1-4 Flux Core
|
AISI 316, 316L molybdenum-bearing stainless steel | 2% molybdenum matches base metal and adds pitting resistance in chloride service |
|
AWS Class E347T1-1/T1-4 Flux Core
|
AISI 321, 347 stabilised stainless steel | Niobium locks carbon and prevents chromium carbide formation in heat cycles |
Quick Selection Guide
| Base Metal Being Welded | Recommended Electrode | AWS Class | Why This Choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| AISI 304 / 304L Stainless Steel | E308LT1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E308LT1-1/T1-4 | Matching 18Cr-8Ni chemistry with low carbon for corrosion resistance |
| AISI 304H (High Carbon Service) | E308HT1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E308HT1-1/T1-4 | Higher carbon supports creep strength above 500 degrees C |
| Carbon Steel to Stainless (Dissimilar) | E309LT1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E309LT1-1/T1-4 | Over-alloyed deposit offsets dilution at the fusion line |
| AISI 316 / 316L Stainless Steel | E316LT1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E316LT1-1/T1-4 | Molybdenum matches base metal for pitting resistance |
| AISI 316 with Higher Mo Demand | E317LT1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E317LT1-1/T1-4 | 3.5% Mo gives added protection in aggressive chloride conditions |
| AISI 321 / 347 Stabilised Grades | E347T1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E347T1-1/T1-4 | Niobium stops sensitisation in repeated thermal cycling |
