Stellite / Cobalt Welding Electrodes

Material

Stellite welding electrodes are cobalt-based coated electrodes used to deposit hard, wear-resistant layers on metal parts. These cobalt welding rods contain chromium, tungsten, and carbon. This composition gives the weld deposit its ability to resist abrasion, heat, and corrosion at the same time.

A stellite electrode gives high hardness in the as-welded state. The deposit holds its strength above 600°C. Cobalt welding electrodes also resist metal-to-metal wear, hot gas erosion, and chemical attack. Most deposits do not need post-weld heat treatment.

Engineers pick cobalt welding rods when a part must survive abrasive contact, high heat, or chemical attack. A single pass with a stellite welding rod can restore a worn valve or shaft to its full profile. This saves the cost of full part replacement.

Oil and gas plants use stellite hardfacing on valve seats and gate valves. Power plants apply cobalt electrodes on steam valve trim and turbine edges. Steel mills coat hot shear blades and rolling mill guides. Mining and cement plants use stellite welding rods on crusher parts and auger flights.

Nicorex Alloys is one of the leading stellite welding rod suppliers in Mumbai, India. We stock ECOCR-A, ECOCR-B, ECOCR-C, and ECOCR-E grades for quick dispatch.

The following cobalt welding electrode grades cover most hardfacing and wear overlay needs.
Product Grade Best Metals They Can Weld Reason
ECOCR-A Welding Electrodes
ECOCR-A WELDING ELECTRODES
Carbon steel, stainless steel, cobalt alloys Deposits at approx. 40 HRC with good impact and corrosion resistance. Suited for valve seats.
ECOCR-B Welding Electrodes
ECOCR-B WELDING ELECTRODES
Carbon steel, low alloy steel, stainless steel Harder deposit (approx. 47 HRC) with strong abrasion resistance for metal-to-metal wear.
ECOCR-C Welding Electrodes
ECOCR-C WELDING ELECTRODES
Carbon steel, low alloy steel, heat-resistant steels Highest hardness (approx. 56 HRC). Best for severe abrasion with limited impact.
ECOCR-E Welding Electrodes
ECOCR-E WELDING ELECTRODES
Carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys Tungsten-free cobalt alloy with galling resistance. Preferred for nuclear and food-grade valves.

inconel-x-750-welding-wire inconel-x-750-welding-wire[/caption] High temperature alloys welding wire is filler metal designed to join superalloys that operate above 500°C. These wires deposit weld metal that keeps its strength, resists oxidation, and stays stable under prolonged heat exposure. Engineers use high temperature alloy filler wire when the welded joint must perform as well as the base metal in extreme thermal conditions. Key features of these filler wires include high creep strength at elevated temperatures, strong resistance to oxidation and hot corrosion, thermal fatigue resistance through repeated heating cycles, and sound metallurgical bonding with nickel-based and cobalt-based superalloys.
