Hastelloy C-22 Welding Electrode (ENiCrMo-10) Supplier in Mumbai, India
Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified importer, stockist, and supplier of Hastelloy C-22 coated electrodes from Mumbai, India. We provide ENiCrMo-10 welding electrodes as classified under AWS A5.11 / ASME SFA 5.11. We stock all four standard diameters (2.4, 3.2, 4.0, 4.8 mm) with mill test certificates and competitive pricing from our Mumbai warehouse.
The ENiCrMo-10 welding electrode is a nickel alloy SMAW consumable that effectively resists weld deposits in mixed-acid corrosion resistance. UNS W86022 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten covered electrode that deposits approximately 56% Ni, 22% Cr, 13% Mo, and 3% W with carbon held to 0.02% max. Service temperature is up to 677°C (1250°F). It welds Hastelloy C-22, Alloy 622, Inconel 625, and Incoloy 825 base metals. Hastelloy C22 welding electrode is also suitable for welding Mo-containing stainless steels. The slag system provides excellent out-of-position operability, including vertical-up and overhead welding (up to 3.2 mm diameter). All-weld-metal tensile strength reaches 779 MPa (113 ksi) with 489 MPa (71 ksi) yield and 43% elongation. The balanced Cr-Mo-W chemistry tolerates dilution from dissimilar base metals, making this electrode suited for overlay and cladding on carbon and stainless steels without a butter layer, and for dissimilar joining between nickel alloys and steels.
Key industries include chemical processing, FGD scrubbers, offshore platform piping, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, and waste treatment. DCEP polarity. MTC 3.1, as per EN 10204, are provided with every batch. Contact Nicorex Alloys for a quotation.

Industrial Welding Applications of ENiCrMo-10 Hastelloy C-22 Electrodes
ENiCrMo-10 Hastelloy C22 electrodes are specified for the following 6 applications:
- Reactor vessel fabrication, heat exchanger tube-to-tubesheet joints, and corrosion-resistant weld overlay on carbon steel reactors.
- Scrubber vessel internals, ductwork joints, and slurry piping in wet-limestone FGD systems.
- Subsea flowline connectors, topside process piping, and platform dissimilar metal joints.
- Digester vessel repairs, bleach plant piping, and chemical recovery boiler tubing. Hot alkaline liquors with chlorine dioxide bleaching require dual oxidising-reducing resistance.
- Reactor vessel fabrication, sterile process piping, and high-purity water systems.
- Incinerator scrubber welds, acid recovery equipment, and hazardous waste containment vessels. Mixed-acid and halide-contaminated condensates require C-22 weld deposit versatility.
Storage, Handling, and Re-Drying Procedures for ENiCrMo-10 Electrodes
- Sealed Packaging: ENiCrMo-10 electrodes shipped in hermetically sealed cans require NO pre-drying before use. Open the can and use it immediately. Once the can is opened, unused electrodes must be stored in a heated holding oven.
- Heated Oven Storage: Store opened/unused electrodes at 121–204°C (250–400°F) in a temperature-controlled rod oven. This maintains the low-hydrogen condition of the basic coating.
- Re-Baking/Reconditioning: If electrodes have been exposed to ambient conditions for extended periods (>4 hours in high-humidity environments), re-bake at 316–371°C (600–700°F) for 1–2 hours before use. Maximum 3 re-baking cycles — after that, discard.
- Exposure Time Limits: As per general practice for low-hydrogen nickel alloy electrodes, limit exposure outside the oven to a maximum of 4 hours in controlled environments (<50% RH). In high-humidity tropical conditions (common in India, the Gulf, and offshore), reduce to 2 hours.
- Moisture Sensitivity: The basic coating is hygroscopic. Absorbed moisture leads to porosity, hydrogen-induced cracking risk in the HAZ of hardenable base metals (when making dissimilar joints to Cr-Mo steels), and degraded corrosion resistance of the weld deposit.
- Wire Spool Storage (for matching ERNiCrMo-10): Keep in original packaging, store in a clean, dry area, away from grinding dust, oil, and carbon steel contamination. Do not unwrap vacuum-sealed spools until ready to use.
Key Welding and Metallurgical Properties of ENiCrMo-10
Given below are the key welding and metallurgical properties of ENiCrMo-10 that make it stand apart from other NiCrMo consumables.
- Dual Oxidising-Reducing Resistance: Cr (22%) handles oxidising media (nitric acid, ferric chloride) while Mo (13%) + W (3%) covers reducing acids (HCl, H₂SO₄). This separates C-22 from C-276 (Mo-dominant) and 625 (Cr-dominant with Nb).
- Superior HAZ Stability: Ultra-low C (0.02%) with balanced Cr-Mo-W minimises sensitisation and TCP phase formation (μ, σ) in multi-pass welding. No PWHT needed.
- Overlay Versatility: Maintains corrosion resistance with 20-30% iron dilution from substrate. This filler electrode suits single-layer CRO on carbon and low-alloy steels.
- Chloride SCC Immunity: The ~56% Ni deposit is highly resistant to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking in offshore and chemical processing welds.
- Niobium-Free Weld Metal: Unlike ENiCrMo-3, this electrode contains no Nb. That eliminates Laves phase formation and hot cracking in restrained joints.
- NACE MR0175 Compatibility: With controlled heat input and interpass ≤93°C, deposits meet hardness and microstructural requirements for sour gas service as per NACE MR0175/ISO 15156.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Price of ENiCrMo-10 (Hastelloy C-22) Welding Electrodes per kg in India?
Price of ENiCrMo-10 (Hastelloy C-22) welding electrodes depends on diameter, quantity, certification, and current nickel/molybdenum commodity rates. Contact Nicorex Alloys with your specifications for a quotation. All prices include EN 10204/3.1B MTC.
What is the Difference Between ENiCrMo-10 and ENiCrMo-4 (C-276 Electrode)?
ENiCrMo-10 (C-22) has higher Cr (~22% vs ~16%) for better oxidising resistance. ENiCrMo-4 (C-276) has higher Mo (~16% vs ~13%) and W (~4% vs ~3%) for superior purely reducing acid performance. C-22 deposits are more versatile in mixed oxidising-reducing conditions.
Can ENiCrMo-10 Welding Rod be used for joining C-22 to Carbon Steel?
Yes. ENiCrMo-10 is the recommended electrode for C-22 (P-No. 43) to carbon steel (P-No. 1) joints. The nickel-rich deposit acts as a transition material, providing corrosion resistance on the alloy side. Preheat the carbon steel as per its code requirements.
What Shielding Gas is Required for SMAW with ENiCrMo-10?
None. SMAW does not require external shielding gas. The coating generates its own atmosphere. For matching TIG wire (ERNiCrMo-10), use 100% argon. For GMAW, use 75% Ar / 25% He or Ar-He-CO₂ trimix.
