ERNiCr-7 Welding Wire Supplier — Inconel® Filler Metal 72M | AWS A5.14 | UNS N06073
Nicorex Alloys is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, Mumbai-based supplier and stockist of ERNiCr-7 welding wire, classified under AWS A5.14 / ASME SFA-5.14 with the UNS designation N06073. It is sold commercially as Inconel Filler Metal 72 (GTAW rod) and Inconel Filler Metal 72M (GMAW spool wire).
This nickel-chromium filler carries one of the highest chromium contents of any AWS A5.14 classification. That extreme chromium level forms a dense Cr₂O₃ oxide barrier that stops sulfidation, fuel-ash corrosion and metal dusting. ERNiCr-7 wire has a nominal balance of ~60% Ni, 36.0-39.0 Cr, 0.50-1.50% Al, 0.50-1.00% Ti, and 0.30-1.10% Nb+Ta. Its primary role is overlay cladding of carbon steel and Cr-Mo boiler tubes (SA213-T2, T11, T22, T91) in coal-fired and waste-to-energy power plants. The wire also joins Inconel 690 (UNS N06690) and Inconel 671 (UNS N06671) to themselves and to steels. Compatible welding processes include GTAW, GMAW, SAW, ESW and PAW, with automatic GTAW being the standard method for waterwall panel overlay. Typical all-weld-metal tensile strength falls between 580 and 650 MPa, and the overlay hardens in service to HRC 46-52 after prolonged high-temperature exposure.
TIG rods (FM 72) come in 1.6 to 3.2 mm diameters; MIG spools (FM 72M) in 0.8 to 1.6 mm. Every shipment is supplied with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates and PMI verification where required.

Industrial Applications of ERNiCr-7 Welding Wire
- Power Generation - Boiler Tube Overlay: In coal-fired boilers, Inconel FM 72M GTAW overlay is commonly used to protect waterwall, superheater and reheater tubes.
- Waste-to-Energy: Waste-to-energy boiler tubes are heavily attacked by chloride-rich ash and changing gas conditions. In service, ERNiCr-7 (Filler Metal 72) overlays keep tubes intact.
- Chemical & Petrochemical: In CO and CH₄ reformer units, ERNiCr-7 overlay stops metal dusting and carburisation, protecting reactor walls and transfer lines in ethylene and ammonia plants with a stable Cr₂O₃ barrier.
