Sheet And Plate

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, trusted metal sheets and plates supplier in Mumbai, stocking hot rolled plate and cold rolled sheets across nickel alloy, duplex, super duplex, and speciality steel families. Every batch ships with MTC 3.1 per EN 10204.

Sheet metal is a flat-rolled product made from slabs by hot rolling or cold rolling. From pressure vessel shells at 300-bar to 0.5 mm shim stock lining a pharmaceutical reactor, every metal sheet plate in a critical application must carry verified chemistry and documented origin. Flat products up to 6 mm (0.23 inch) thick are sheets; above 6 mm is a plate. Sheets are cold rolled for tighter tolerances. Plates are hot rolled for structural and pressure vessel work.

Our stock covers Hastelloy (C276, C22, C2000, X, Alloy 59), Inconel (600, 625, 625 LCF, 718), Incoloy (800/800H/800HT, 825), Monel 400, Nickel 200/201, Alloy 20, 904L, Duplex S31803/S32205, and Super Duplex S32750/S32760. Forms include HR plates, CR sheets, shim sheets, perforated sheets, chequered plates, coils, strips, and foils.

We supply plate and sheet metal from 0.5 mm and plates up to 200 mm thicknesses, in widths from 1000 to 2500 mm, and lengths from 2000 to 6000 mm or cut to your required size. Finishes include 2B, 2D, BA, No.1, No.4, No.8, hairline, and chequered. Cut-to-size sheet and plate services cover plasma, laser, waterjet, and shearing. We supply fabricators and EPC contractors across India and 40+ export markets.

Steel Sheet Thickness Gauge Chart

Use this gauge-to-millimetre table to compare sheet thicknesses in stainless steel, carbon steel, galvanised steel, and aluminium (values may vary slightly depending on material and standard):
Gauge SS (mm) Steel (mm) Galv. (mm) Al (mm)
10 3.57 3.42 3.51 2.59
14 1.98 1.90 2.01 1.63
16 1.59 1.52 1.63 1.29
18 1.27 1.21 1.32 1.02
20 0.95 0.91 1.02 0.81
24 0.64 0.61 0.71 0.51
A 16-gauge stainless steel sheet (1.59 mm) is thicker than a 16-gauge aluminium sheet (1.29 mm). Always specify material + gauge + mm. For nickel alloys, thickness is stated in mm only.

Sheet and Plate Surface Finish

The table below explains the finish, process, appearance and application of sheet and plate surface finish:
Finish Process Appearance Application
No.1 HR + annealed + pickled Rough, matte Industrial, structural
2D CR + annealed + pickled Smooth, matte Deep drawing
2B CR + annealed + skin pass Smooth, reflective General fabrication
BA CR + bright annealed Highly reflective Pharma, food, cleanroom
No.4 120–150 grit polished Satin grain Architectural, kitchen
No.8 Polished + buffed Mirror Decorative, signage
Chequered Diamond pattern Raised non-slip Floor plates, stairways

Types and Forms of Sheets and Plates We Supply

Nicorex stocks multiple forms of sheets and plates for vessel fabrication, shimming, and coil-processing.

Shim Sheet

Shim Sheets

Thin metal sheets with a thickness of 0.05–2 mm are used to space and align rotating parts.

Stainless Steel Perforated Sheet

Perforated Sheets

Metal sheets with round, square, or long holes are used for filtering and airflow.

Nickel Alloy Chequered Plates

Chequered Plates

Plates with a raised pattern that prevent slipping on walkways and platforms.

duplex-strips-and-coils

Coils

Continuous flat metal is used for cutting, stamping, and roll-forming.

Nickel Strips

Strips

Narrow metal strips, 10–600 mm wide, are used for gaskets and stamping.

Incoloy Foils

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a sheet and a plate?
The sheet and plate difference is in thickness. Products up to 6 mm are sheets; above 6 mm are plates. Sheets are cold rolled with 2B/BA finishes; plates are hot rolled for vessel work.
The surface finishes available are No.1 (HR), 2B (CR standard), BA (pharma/food), No.4 (satin), and No.8 (mirror). Choice depends on application and cleanability.
Nickel alloy sheet standards include Hastelloy (ASTM B575), Inconel 600 (B168), Inconel 625 (B443), Incoloy 800 (B409), Monel 400 (B127), Nickel 200 (B162), Alloy 20 (B463), 904L (A240), and Duplex (A240).
The weight of a sheet and a plate is calculated using the following formula: Weight (kg) = Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (mm) × Density (kg/m²/mm).
HR is rolled above recrystallisation temperature; it has a rougher finish and wider tolerances. CR is rolled below; it has a smoother 2B/BA finish, ±0.05 mm. HR is used for vessels; CR is used for precision.
