ERNiCrMo-13 Welding Wire (Alloy 59) – TIG Filler Rod & MIG Wire Supplier in India

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 certified Mumbai-based supplier and stockist of ERNiCrMo-13 welding wire. We provide these wires classified as per AWS A5.14 / ASME SFA 5.14.

ERNiCrMo-13 weld deposit contains approximately 59% Ni, 22.5% Cr, and 16% Mo with ultra-low carbon (0.010% max) and silicon (0.10% max), the lowest C and Si limits among all NiCrMo filler metals in AWS A5.14. It is also designated Alloy 59 filler metal or Nickel Alloy Filler Metal 59 and classified under UNS N06059 (Werkstoff Nr. 2.4607, EN ISO 18274 S Ni 6059). This nickel-chromium-molybdenum solid wire carries the highest Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN ≈76) of any NiCrMo filler metal. Alloy 59 has unmatched chloride pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. The absence of tungsten eliminates secondary phase precipitation during welding, while the niobium-free composition avoids Laves phase formation at dissimilar weld interfaces. Typical all-weld-metal tensile strength exceeds 720 MPa (104 ksi), yield surpasses 450 MPa (65 ksi), and elongation reaches 35%+. ERNiCrMo-13 resists both oxidising and reducing corrosive media simultaneously, a dual capability shared by few other single filler metals.

Available as TIG rods (1.6, 2.4, 3.2 mm) and MIG spools (0.9, 1.2, 1.6 mm), this filler wire welds Alloy 59, C-276, C-22, C-4, Alloy 31, Alloy 926, 6Mo super-austenitic grades, super duplex steels, and dissimilar joints to carbon and low-alloy steels. Every batch ships with a Mill Test Certificate 3.1 per EN 10204.

Solution annealing at 1100–1180°C followed by rapid cooling can bring mechanical and corrosion properties into line with the Alloy 59 base metal specification. This treatment is optional and typically performed only for the most aggressive service conditions.

Base Metal Compatibility and Dissimilar Joint Applications for ERNiCrMo-13

ERNiCrMo-13 is an over-alloyed filler metal. It welds Alloy 59 to itself and over-matches less-alloyed base metals for maximum weld-zone corrosion resistance.
Base Metal UNS P-Number Joint Type
Alloy 59 N06059 P-43 Similar (P-43 to P-43)
Alloy C-276 N10276 P-43 Similar (P-43 to P-43)
Alloy C-4 N06455 P-43 Similar (P-43 to P-43)
Alloy C-22 N06022 P-43 Similar (P-43 to P-43)
Alloy 31 N08031 P-45 Dissimilar (P-45 to P-43)
Alloy 926 N08926 P-45 Dissimilar (P-45 to P-45)
254 SMO S31254 P-8/45 Dissimilar
Super Duplex 2507 S32750 P-10H Dissimilar
Carbon Steel Various P-1 Dissimilar overlay/cladding
Low-Alloy Steel Various P-3/4/5 Dissimilar overlay/cladding
The key advantage of ERNiCrMo-13 as an over-alloyed filler is its Nb-free composition. Unlike ERNiCrMo-3 (625) with 3.5% Nb, the absence of niobium eliminates Nb segregation and Laves phase formation at dissimilar weld interfaces: the preferred filler for joining super-austenitic and super duplex stainless steels where long-term corrosion performance is critical.

Recommended Welding Parameters for ERNiCrMo-13 MIG & TIG Filler Metal & Wire

Industrial Applications

Storage and Handling of ERNiCrMo-13 Welding Filler Wire

ERNiCrMo-13 is a solid bare wire, not a coated electrode. The primary. Store in original sealed packaging at 15–30°C, humidity below 60% RH. Keep wire away from carbon steel, copper, zinc, and lead. Trace amounts of low-melting-point metals cause hot cracking in nickel alloy welds. Clean TIG rods with acetone before use. Return partially used MIG spools to sealed packaging. Shelf life is indefinite when stored correctly; inspect for discolouration before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can ERNiCrMo-13 be Used as an Over-Alloyed Filler for Super Duplex and Super-Austenitic Stainless Steels?

Yes, ERNiCrMo-13 (PREN ≈76) is recommended by VDM for over‑alloyed welding of Alloy 31, Alloy 926, and super duplex grades, with Nb‑free chemistry preventing Laves phase and ensuring weld‑zone corrosion resistance exceeds the base metals.

Keep interpass temperature at or below 150°C (often 120°C by spec) to avoid secondary phase precipitation and loss of corrosion resistance, verifying with a pyrometer or thermocouple.
ERNiCrMo-13 offers higher Cr (23% vs 22%), much higher Mo (16% vs 9%), ultra‑low C (0.010% vs 0.10%), and no Nb (vs 3.5%), giving significantly better resistance in severe mixed acid and chloride environments.
No PWHT is normally required because ultra‑low C and Si prevent sensitisation, though optional solution annealing at 1100–1180°C with rapid cooling may be used for the harshest services.
TIG rods are 1000 mm long in 5 kg tubes or 20 kg cartons, MIG wire is on 15 kg D300/BS300 spools, and SAW wire ships on 25 kg coils, all with MTC 3.1 and optional drum packs for automated GMAW.
ERNiCrMo-3 (625) offers sufficient corrosion resistance when service exceeds 600°C and creep strength controls, or when using CO₂‑containing GMAW shielding gases that can raise carbon above 0.010% and impair intergranular corrosion resistance.
