- Duplex & Super Duplex Steel Flux Core Welding Wire
Duplex and super duplex steel flux core is a tubular FCAW wire built to join DSS and SDSS base metals. A powder-filled core generates shielding gases and slag to protect the weld pool used with external shielding gas. Duplex stainless steel provides twice the yield strength of austenitic grades. Super duplex adds higher chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen for greater pitting resistance.
These flux core welding wires produce deposits with a balanced ferrite-austenite microstructure that gives duplex steel joints strong resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.
FCAW delivers high deposition rates on large fabrication jobs and supports all-position welding for field work on pipelines and offshore structures.
Offshore platforms, desalination plants, chemical vessels, and pulp and paper digesters use duplex and super duplex flux core welding wire.
We are a Mumbai-based supplier and stockist of duplex and super duplex flux core wire. We stock them with full mill test certificates.
Complete Range of Duplex & Super Duplex Flux Core Wire
| Product Grade | Best Metals They Can Weld | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Duplex stainless steel (UNS S31803, S32205), 304L-to-duplex joints | Balanced ferrite-austenite deposit matches or slightly over-alloys DSS chemistry, resists chloride stress corrosion cracking | |
| Super duplex stainless steel (UNS S32750, S32760) | Higher Cr, Mo, and N matches SDSS chemistry for pitting and crevice resistance |
Quick Selection Matrix
| Base Metal Being Welded | Recommended Wire | AWS Class | Why This Choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| UNS S31803 / S32205 (Duplex Steel) | E2209T1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E2209T1-1/T1-4 | Matching duplex chemistry with balanced ferrite-austenite phase ratio |
| UNS S32750 (Super Duplex Steel) | E2594T1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E2594T1-1/T1-4 | PRE above 40 for severe chloride pitting environments |
| UNS S32760 (Super Duplex Stainless Steel) | E2594T1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E2594T1-1/T1-4 | Higher Mo and W content for seawater and chemical service |
| AISI 304L to Duplex Steel (Dissimilar Joint) | E2209T1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E2209T1-1/T1-4 | Over-alloyed relative to 304L, prevents undermatching at the weld |
| AISI 316L to Duplex Steel (Dissimilar Joint) | E2209T1-1/T1-4 Flux Core | E2209T1-1/T1-4 | Adequate Cr and Mo for corrosion protection at the dissimilar joint |
