Duplex & Super Duplex Steel MIG & TIG Wire

Duplex and super duplex stainless steel MIG and TIG wires are filler metals that can weld DSS and SDSS base metals. These alloys blend austenite and ferrite phases in near-equal balance. This dual-phase structure provides high strength and strong resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

These wires deliver controlled ferrite content in the weld deposit. They resist pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion in chloride-rich service. ER2209 suits standard duplex steel grades. ER2594 handles super duplex stainless steel grades exposed to more aggressive conditions.

We recommend duplex and super duplex MIG and TIG wire for joints that must handle both mechanical stress and chemical attack. The balanced microstructure provides higher yield strength compared to standard austenitic stainless steels.

These wires are mainly used in offshore oil and gas pipelines, desalination plants, chemical processing vessels, pulp and paper digesters, and marine structural components.
