Hastelloy C276 Flanges

Hastelloy C276 Flanges Supplier in Mumbai, India – ASTM B564 UNS N10276

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified supplier and stockist of Hastelloy C276 flanges in Mumbai, India. The ASTM standard for Hastelloy C276 flanges is ASTM B564 (UNS N10276).

Hastelloy C276 is one of the most versatile nickel alloys that simultaneously resists both oxidising and reducing acids while maintaining immunity to chloride stress corrosion cracking. The alloy contains Ni 57%, Cr 16%, Mo 16%, and W 4%, with ultra-low C (0.01% max) and Si (0.08% max) that prevent grain boundary precipitates in the weld HAZ. This makes C276 the first Ni-Cr-Mo alloy engineered for as-welded service, eliminating PWHT on flange-to-pipe joints.

Alloy C-276 flanges are the industry standard for piping systems that must handle many aggressive acids. They provide reliable performance in harsh environments such as mixed-acid chemical plants, FGD scrubber units, and sour gas pipelines. These flanges, designated UNS N10276 (Werkstoff 2.4819, Nicrofer 5716), offer high strength with a minimum tensile strength of 790 MPa (115 ksi). They are made in all standard flange types (such as weld neck, slip-on, blind, socket weld, threaded, lap joint, long weld neck, ring-type joint, spectacle blind, and reducing flanges) so they can be used for almost any piping connection.

These flanges are manufactured in sizes from NPS 1/2″ up to 60″ and in pressure classes 150 through 2500. Every flange is approved for sour service under NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156. It is supplied with EN 10204/3.1B test certificates and full positive material identification (PMI) records.

Chemical Composition of Hastelloy C276 Flanges

Chemical composition of Hastelloy C276 flanges is defined by ASTM B564 requirements for UNS N10276, detailing precise alloying element ranges:
Element Nickel (Ni) Chromium (Cr) Molybdenum (Mo) Tungsten (W) Iron (Fe) Cobalt (Co) Vanadium (V) Silicon (Si) Carbon (C) Manganese (Mn) Copper (Cu) Phosphorus (P) Sulfur (S)
Alloy C276 Balance (~57) 14.5 – 16.5 15.0 – 17.0 3.0 – 4.5 4.0 – 7.0 2.5 max 0.35 max 0.08 max 0.01 max 1.0 max 0.50 max 0.04 max 0.03 max
The low limits of 0.01% carbon and 0.08% silicon stop harmful carbides and intermetallics from forming in the weld heat‑affected zone (HAZ). This gives C276 flanges as-welded corrosion resistance without PWHT, a defining advantage over earlier Hastelloy C (UNS N10002). Mo at 15–17% combined with W at 3-4.5% drives resistance to reducing acids and chloride pitting.

Mechanical Properties of ASTM B564 UNS N10276 Flange

Mechanical properties of ASTM B564 UNS N10276 flanges are specified for the solution‑annealed condition, ensuring standardised strength and ductility values:
Tensile Strength (min) Yield 0.2% Offset (min) Elongation (min) Hardness (max)
790 MPa (115 ksi) 355 MPa (51.5 ksi) 40% 241 HB / 100 HRB

Solution annealing at 1121°C (2050°F) followed by water quench sets these properties. Re-annealing is recommended after cold working exceeding 7% outer fibre elongation. Charpy impact values remain high at cryogenic temperatures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ASTM Specification Covers Hastelloy C276 Forged Flanges?

ASTM B564 / ASME SB564 covers UNS N10276 forged flanges. ASTM B462 also applies.

675°C (1250°F) per ASME B16.5 Material Group 3.8. Above this, no pressure-temperature ratings are provided.

C22 (N06022) has higher Cr (22% vs 16%) and lower Mo (13% vs 16%). C22 is better in oxidising/wet chlorine environments. C276 provides broader reducing-acid resistance and remains more versatile for mixed service.

No. Ultra-low C (0.01%) and Si (0.08%) prevent HAZ precipitates. Filler: ERNiCrMo-4 (AWS A5.14) for GTAW; ENiCrMo-4 (AWS A5.11) for SMAW.

The price is usually INR 4,500 to 8,000+ per kg. It varies based on the flange type, size, pressure rating, and current nickel and molybdenum prices in the market. Weld neck raised face (WNRF) flanges are costlier per kg than slip-on (SORF) or blind (BLRF) flanges because they use more forged metal.

Standard sizes (NPS 1/2”–12”, Class 150–600): 3–5 days from stock. Non-standard and Class 900–2500: 4–8 weeks.
