Incoloy 800/800H/800HT Round Bars

Incoloy 800/800H/800HT Round Bars Supplier in Mumbai, India

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 certified supplier of Incoloy 800, 800H, and 800HT round bars and rods based in Mumbai, India. We supply Alloy 800 bar stock with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates and PMI reports.

These iron-nickel-chromium alloys (Fe ≥39.5%, Ni 30–35%, Cr 19–23%) are manufactured to ASTM B408 / ASME SB408 for high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and carburization resistance in furnace and process plant environments. Three grades share the same base composition but differ in carbon control and grain size. Alloy 800 (UNS N08800, W.Nr. 1.4876) covers general service to 816°C (1500°F). Alloy 800H (UNS N08810, W.Nr. 1.4958) restricts carbon to 0.05–0.10% and requires ASTM 5 or coarser grain size for higher creep-rupture strength, approved to 899°C (1650°F) per ASME Code Case 1325. Alloy 800HT (UNS N08811, W.Nr. 1.4959) further tightens carbon to 0.06–0.10% and Al+Ti to 0.85–1.20% for maximum rupture life under Code Case 1987.

Room-temperature tensile strength reaches 520 MPa (75 ksi) with 30% elongation. Density is 7.94 g/cm³, and the melting range falls between 1357–1385°C. Diameters span 3–500 mm in lengths of 1–6 m. Forms include round bar, hex bar, flat bar, square bar, forged bar, hollow bar, and threaded bar. Conditions: hot finished, cold drawn, solution annealed, and centreless ground. Surface finishes include black, bright, peeled, rough turned, and polished. NACE MR-01-75 listed. Dual certification (800H/HT) is available on request.

Chemical Composition of Incoloy 800/H/HT Round Bar

Incoloy 800 chemical composition per ASTM B408. Key differences are in carbon, aluminium, titanium, and grain size:

Element Nickel (Ni) Chromium (Cr) Iron (Fe) Carbon (C) Al + Ti Mn Si Grain Size
800 (N08800) 30.0–35.0 19.0–23.0 39.5 min 0.10 max 0.30–1.20 1.5 max 1.0 max Not specified
800H (N08810) 30.0–35.0 19.0–23.0 39.5 min 0.05–0.10 0.30–1.20 1.5 max 1.0 max ASTM 5 or coarser
800HT (N08811) 30.0–35.0 19.0–23.0 39.5 min 0.06–0.10 0.85–1.20 1.5 max 1.0 max ASTM 5 or coarser

Controlled C, Al+Ti, and coarser grain size in 800H/HT produce superior creep-rupture performance above 593°C (1100°F). Coarser grains resist grain-boundary sliding, which is the primary creep mechanism at elevated temperatures.

Mechanical Properties of ASTM B408 Incoloy 800/800H/800HT Round Bar

Mechanical properties of Incoloy 800 as specified in ASTM B408 for hot-finished, annealed round bars used in high-temperature service.

Property Tensile (min) Yield 0.2% (min) Elongation (min)
800 520 MPa (75 ksi) 205 MPa (30 ksi) 30%
800H 520 MPa (75 ksi) 170 MPa (25 ksi) 30%
800HT 520 MPa (75 ksi) 170 MPa (25 ksi) 30%

800H and 800HT show lower room-temperature yield (170 vs 205 MPa) because the coarser grain size and higher anneal temperature soften the bar at ambient. The trade-off: significantly higher creep-rupture strength above 593°C. ASME Code Case 1325 (800H) and 1987 (800HT) define higher allowable design stresses at elevated temperatures.

Machining, Hot Working & Welding of Incoloy 800 Series Round Bar

Work hardening rate is similar to Inconel 600. Use rigid setups with carbide tooling at 25–40 m/min for turning. Avoid light cuts that ride on the work-hardened layer. Use heavy-duty coolants throughout.

Hot work at 871–1232°C (1600–2250°F). Do not work below 871°C. Post-hot-work annealing is required for 800H/HT to restore grain size and creep properties.

Weld by GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, or SAW using ERNiCr-3 (INCO-WELD A) filler. Post-weld anneal at 980°C for 800; at 1150°C for 800H/HT if destined for creep-rupture service. Interpass temperature: 150°C max

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Difference Between Incoloy 800, 800H, and 800HT Round Bar?

All three share the same Ni-Cr-Fe base. 800H restricts C to 0.05–0.10% with grain size ASTM 5 or coarser for higher creep strength. 800HT further tightens C to 0.06–0.10% and Al+Ti to 0.85–1.20% for maximum rupture life. For service above 593°C, specify 800H or 800HT.

ASME Code Case 1987 approves design stresses to 899°C (1650°F). In practice, furnace support bars operate continuously at 816–871°C.

Coarser grains (ASTM 5 or larger) resist grain-boundary sliding, the primary creep mechanism at high temperatures. Solution annealing at ≥1150°C achieves this grain size.

ASTM B408 covers rods and bars. ASTM B564 covers forgings. Verify which specification your end-use code requires based on the forging ratio.

Incoloy 800 is approved by NACE MR-01-75 for certain sour-service conditions. For more severe sour environments that need higher strength, Incoloy 825 or 925 is preferred because they contain more nickel and molybdenum.

Price depends on the grade, diameter, order quantity, surface/stock condition, and current nickel price. In general, 800HT costs about 5–10% more than standard 800 because of its tighter chemistry controls. Contact Nicorex Alloys for current pricing.
