Hastelloy X Sheets & Plates

Hastelloy X Sheets & Plates Supplier in Mumbai, India – ASTM B435 UNS N06002

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified supplier, stockist, and trading company based in Mumbai, India. We supply Hastelloy X sheet and plate manufactured according to ASTM B435 / ASME SB435 / AMS 5536.

Alloy X (UNS N06002, Werkstoff Nr. 2.4665) is a solid-solution-strengthened nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum superalloy with a nominal composition of Ni 47%, Cr 22%, Fe 18%, and Mo 9%. High-temperature oxidation resistance up to 1204°C (2200°F) is what sets Hastelloy X sheet and plate apart from every other nickel alloy flat product on the market. The relatively high carbon content (0.05-0.15%) drives creep strength at elevated temperatures, a trait absent in low-carbon corrosion-resistant grades like C-276 and C2000. Sheet thickness ranges from 0.5 to 4.76 mm; plate from 4.76 to 75 mm. Widths reach 2000 mm, lengths up to 6000 mm for sheets and 12000 mm for plates. High-temperature strength holds to 816°C (1500°F).

Available forms include hot-rolled plate, cold-rolled sheet, strip, coil, shim, clad plate, and perforated sheet. Standard sizes cover 1000×2000, 1220×2440, 1500×3000, and 2000×4000 mm. Surface finishes include #1 (HR annealed and descaled), #2D, #2B, and BA. All material ships in solution-annealed condition at 1177°C (2150°F) with rapid cooling. Density is 8.22 g/cm³ and the melting range falls between 1260-1355°C (2300-2470°F). Hastelloy X is non-magnetic (permeability < 1.002). Industries served include aerospace, gas turbine, industrial furnace, petrochemical, power generation, and nuclear energy. Every ASTM B435 Hastelloy X sheet and plate ships with EN 10204/3.1B mill test certificates, PMI reports, and full traceability documentation.

Chemical Composition of Alloy X Plate/Sheet

The chemical composition of Hastelloy X (UNS N06002) sheet and plate as per ASTM B435 is given below.
Element Nickel (Ni) Chromium (Cr) Iron (Fe) Molybdenum (Mo) Cobalt (Co) Tungsten (W) Carbon (C) Silicon (Si) Manganese (Mn) Aluminium (Al) Titanium (Ti) Niobium (Nb) Boron (B) Phosphorus (P) Sulfur (S)
Composition (wt%) Balance (~47) 20.5–23.0 17.0–20.0 8.0–10.0 0.5–2.5 0.2–1.0 0.05–0.15 1.0 max 1.0 max 0.50 max 0.15 max 0.50 max 0.010 max 0.04 max 0.03 max

Carbon at 0.05-0.15% is the key differentiator. This range sustains carbide precipitation that pins grain boundaries at service temperatures above 800°C. Cr at 22% forms a tenacious Cr₂O₃ film that resists spalling during thermal cycling of sheet and plate components.

Mechanical Properties of ASTM B435 Hastelloy X Sheet & Plate

Mechanical properties of Hastelloy X sheet and plate in solution-annealed condition as per ASTM B435:

Oxidation & Corrosion Resistance of Hastelloy X Sheet & Plate

Hastelloy X oxidation resistance is its defining characteristic. At 1095°C in flowing air, Alloy X sheet loses just 0.038 mm/side, compared to 0.083 mm for Inconel 625 and 0.137 mm for 800H. A stable Cr₂O₃ scale forms and resists spalling through repeated thermal cycles.

Hastelloy X plate is also resistant to carburisation and nitriding, conditions that degrade many other superalloys in pyrolysis service. Stress-corrosion cracking resistance in chloride-bearing petrochemical streams is strong. Furnace rolls made from Alloy X plate can operate for a long time at 1177°C without failure. For wet acid corrosion, C-276 or C2000 are preferred.

Hot Working, Cold Forming & Heat Treatment of Hastelloy Alloy X

Hot working range: 927-1177°C (1700-2150°F). Hold at 1177°C until uniform temperature. All hot-worked parts must be solution annealed. Cold forming uses all standard methods; 46-49% elongation gives strong formability. Anneal and rapid-cool after cold work.

Solution anneal at 1177°C (2150°F) with rapid cooling. Bright anneal in hydrogen atmosphere. Temperatures below 1177°C cause secondary-phase precipitation. Welding uses GTAW, GMAW, or SMAW with ERNiCrMo-2 (AWS A5.14) filler. No preheat; interpass below 93°C. SAW is not recommended. No PWHT required.
