Duplex Steel Sheet & Plate

Duplex Steel Sheet & Plate Supplier in Mumbai, India

Nicorex Alloys is a Mumbai-based ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified importer, stockist, and supplier of Duplex Steel sheets and plates. We stock Duplex 2205 (UNS S31803/S32205) and 2304 in thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 100 mm, widths up to 2500 mm, with surface finishes such as No.1, 2B, BA, and No.4.

Duplex stainless steel has a two-phase structure of roughly equal parts austenite and ferrite, giving about twice the yield strength of 304 and 316. Stocked forms include hot rolled plates, cold rolled sheets, coils, and strips under ASTM A240 / ASME SA-240. All shipments carry EN 10204/3.1B mill certificates.

We stock a wide range of Duplex steel sheets and plates in multiple grades, including:

What Are Duplex Steel Sheets and Plates?

Duplex steel sheets and plates are flat products from stainless steels with a dual (austenite + ferrite) structure. Sheets are under 6 mm thick for lighter-gauge work. Plates are 6 mm and above for pressure vessels and heat exchangers.

Key alloying elements include chromium (21 to 23%), molybdenum (2.5 to 3.5%) for pitting protection, and nitrogen (0.14 to 0.20%) for strength. PREN for Duplex 2205 is 34 to 36. Duplex 2205 has double the yield strength of 316L and chloride SCC resistance up to 150°C versus 60°C.

Available Grades of Duplex Steel Sheets and Plates

Nicorex Alloys stocks Duplex Steel sheets and plates in 2 grades:

Duplex 2205 Sheet & Plate

Duplex 2205 is the most widely used duplex grade, covering over 80% of global usage. It contains 22% Cr, 5% Ni, 3% Mo, and 0.17% N. PREN is 34 to 36. Yield strength is about 450 MPa. It resists chloride pitting and SCC up to 150°C. This grade is NACE MR0175 listed and NORSOK approved. Most material ships dual-certified S31803/S32205.

Duplex 2304 Sheet & Plate

2304 is a lean duplex grade with 23% Cr, 4% Ni, and low Mo. It is more cost-effective than 2205 with corrosion resistance close to 316L. This grade is used in storage tanks and construction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Duplex Steel Sheet and Plate?
A duplex steel sheet and plate is a flat-form stainless steel product with a two-phase (austenite + ferrite) microstructure. This dual structure provides approximately twice the yield strength of austenitic grades (304/316) and good corrosion resistance against chloride pitting and stress corrosion cracking.
ASTM A240 / ASME SA-240 covers Duplex stainless steel plate, sheet, and strip.
Both are Duplex 2205. S32205 has tighter Cr, Mo, and N ranges for better corrosion resistance. Most material ships dual-certified.
The maximum service temperature for Duplex 2205 is around 300 °C (572°F). The risk of 475°C (sigma phase) embrittlement degrades the grade’s impact toughness.
Yes. GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW, and FCAW all work. Use ER2209 filler per AWS A5.9 with 2 to 5% nitrogen in the shielding gas.
Duplex 2205 has double the yield strength (450 MPa vs 220 MPa), better chloride SCC resistance (150°C vs 60°C), higher PREN (34 to 36 vs 24 to 26), and lower nickel content for price stability.
Surface finishes like No.1 (hot rolled), 2B, 2D (cold rolled), BA (bright annealed), No.4 (brushed), No.8 (mirror), hairline, satin, and chequered are available.
