Corrosion Resistance of Hastelloy C22 Sheet & Plate
Hastelloy C22 resists both oxidising and reducing media. Cr at 22% handles nitric acid, ferric chloride, and wet chlorine. Mo (13%) + W (3%) cover HCl and H₂SO₄. CPT in 6% FeCl₃ per ASTM G48 exceeds 85°C (C276: ~70°C).

C22 is not suited above 677°C (1250°F) where µ and P phases may form.
Hot Working, Cold Forming & Heat Treatment of Hastelloy C22
Hot work at 870-1230°C. Do not work below 870°C. C22 sheet suits all cold forming in annealed condition (45% elongation). Solution anneal at 1121°C (2050°F) minimum, rapid quench. Slow cooling through 538-1038°C risks µ and P phases.
Weld with ERNiCrMo-10 (AWS A5.14) for GTAW/GMAW or ENiCrMo-10 for SMAW. SAW is not recommended. No PWHT required.
