Inconel 625 Round Bars & Rods – ASTM B446 UNS N06625 | Supplier in Mumbai, India
Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 certified supplier of Inconel 625 round bars and rods based in Mumbai, India. Alloy 625 is a solid-solution-strengthened Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum-Columbium Alloy (UNS N06625, Werkstoff 2.4856) manufactured to ASTM B446 / ASME SB-446.
Inconel 625 bar derives its strength from Mo (8-10%) and Nb (3.15-4.15%), stiffening the nickel-chromium matrix without any ageing heat treatment. ASTM B446 defines two grades. Grade 1 (annealed at ≥871°C) provides higher tensile strength at 827 MPa (120 ksi) for service up to 593°C. Grade 2, solution annealed at or above 1093°C, provides excellent creep-rupture resistance and a tensile strength of 724 MPa (105 ksi) for use at temperatures above 593°C. Its PREN value is over 51, indicating very high resistance to pitting corrosion. Nickel Alloy 625 bar is non-magnetic at all temperatures, with a Curie point below –196°C, and can be used from cryogenic temperatures up to 982°C (1800°F).
We supply Ni-Cr-Mo-Nb alloy bars in diameters from 3 mm to 500 mm and lengths from 1 m to 6 m. Available forms include round, hex, flat, square, rectangular, forged, and hollow bars. Surface finishes are available in black, bright, turned, ground, peeled, and polished. The material has a density of 8.44 g/cm³ and a melting range of 1290–1350°C. It meets AMS 5666 standards for aerospace use and comes with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates.

Solid-Solution Strengthening & Aqueous Corrosion Performance of Inconel 625 Bar
Inconel 625 gets its strength from molybdenum (Mo) and niobium (Nb) dissolved in the nickel‑chromium matrix. No ageing treatment is required, eliminating heat treatment costs and providing uniform properties across all section sizes. This separates it from precipitation-hardened Inconel 718 and X-750.
PREN exceeds 51, giving Alloy 625 bar outstanding pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in stagnant seawater. The alloy resists both oxidising acids (HNO₃) and reducing acids (HCl, H₂SO₄, HF), a rare dual capability for mixed-acid service. Ni above 58% makes Inconel 625 immune to chloride-ion SCC. NACE MR-01-75 / ISO 15156-3 listed at ≤22 HRC for sour gas service. Oxidation resistance extends to 982°C through a Cr₂O₃ + NiO oxide layer.
Machining, Hot Working & Welding of Inconel 625 Bar
Inconel 625 machining requires carbide tooling at 14–34 m/min with heavy constant feeds. High Mo+Nb content increases work-hardening vs Alloy 600. Use flood coolant with sulphurised cutting fluids.
Hot work at 927–1177°C; avoid below 927°C. Solution anneal at 1093–1204°C after forging. Weld by GTAW, GMAW, or SMAW using ERNiCrMo-3 filler or ENiCrMo-3 electrode. No PWHT required; Nb stabilises against sensitisation. Interpass: 150°C max. Alloy 625 filler also serves as an overmatching consumable for 316 SS, 6% Mo austenitics, and Incoloy 825.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Price of Inconel 625 Round Bar per Kg in India?
In India, Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) round bar usually costs ₹2,500–₹4,000 per kg. The price depends on bar size, order quantity, grade (1 or 2), surface finish, and nickel/molybdenum market rates. Smaller diameters and bright-finished bars are usually more expensive per kg. For the latest prices, please contact Nicorex Alloys.
Can Inconel 625 Bar Replace 316L Stainless Steel in Marine Applications?
Does Inconel 625 Bar Require Post-Weld Heat Treatment?
No. Alloy 625 is niobium-stabilised, which prevents sensitisation and intergranular corrosion during welding. The bar maintains full corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition. For stress relief of large fabrications, heating to 927–1038°C for 1 hour per inch of thickness is an option.
What is the Difference Between ASTM B446 Grade 1 and Grade 2 Inconel 625 Bar?
Grade 1 (Annealed) bar is heat-treated at a minimum of 871°C, producing higher tensile and yield strength. It is the most common stock grade and is suitable for service up to 593°C. Grade 2 is solution annealed at ≥1093°C, giving lower strength but better creep and rupture resistance. Choose Grade 2 for gas turbine parts and high‑temperature pressure vessels above 593°C.
Is Inconel 625 Round Bar Magnetic?
How Does Inconel 625 Bar Compare to Hastelloy C276 Bar?
What is the Maximum Service Temperature for Inconel 625 Bar?
The maximum continuous service temperature is 982°C (1800°F) for oxidation and corrosion resistance. Mechanical properties decrease above 593°C. For creep-critical applications above that threshold, specify Grade 2. ASME allows Grade 1 up to 649°C and Grade 2 up to 871°C for Section VIII Div 1 pressure vessel design.
What Filler Metal Is Used for Welding Inconel 625 Bar?
Use INCONEL Filler Metal 625 (AWS ERNiCrMo-3) for GTAW and GMAW, and INCONEL Welding Electrode 112 (AWS ENiCrMo-3) for SMAW. Both maintain full corrosion resistance as-welded without PWHT. They also serve as overmatching consumables for joining 316/317 stainless steels, 6% Mo super-austenitics, and Incoloy 825.
How Much Does Inconel 625 Round Bar Weigh per Metre?
Weight depends on diameter. Use: Weight (kg/m) = diameter² (mm) × 0.006631, based on Inconel 625 density of 8.44 g/cm³. Examples of weight per metre: 25 mm = 4.14 kg/m, 50 mm = 16.58 kg/m, 100 mm = 66.31 kg/m, 150 mm = 149.20 kg/m.
Can Inconel 625 Bar Be Used in Hydrochloric Acid?
Yes, in dilute concentrations and moderate temperatures. Inconel 625 is one of the few alloys that resists both reducing acids (HCl, H₂SO₄) and oxidising acids (HNO₃). It has been used for chemical waste tanks handling combined HCl and HNO₃. For hot concentrated HCl above 50°C, Hastelloy C276 or B-series alloys may be preferred due to their higher Mo content.
