Monel Sheet & Plate

Monel Sheet & Plate Supplier in Mumbai, India

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified importer, stockist, and supplier of Monel sheet and plate in Mumbai, India. We stock Monel 400 and Monel K-500 in hot rolled plate, cold rolled sheet, and strip under ASTM B127 / ASME SB-127, QQ-N-281, and AMS 4544. All shipments carry EN 10204-3.1 mill test certificates.

Monel is a nickel-copper alloy family with about 63% nickel and 28 to 34% copper. Monel 400 plate corrodes below 0.025 mm/year in flowing seawater and resists hydrofluoric acid. For many years, engineers have specified Monel as the top flat-product alloy for seawater and acid service.

We stock a wide range of Monel sheets and plates in multiple grades, including:

What are Monel Sheets and Plates?

Monel sheets and plates are flat-rolled products from nickel-copper alloys. The thickness of a sheet goes up to 4.76 mm (3/16″) per ASTM B127. Plate is thicker than 4.76 mm. Strip is narrower sheet under 600 mm wide in coils. Monel 400 gives uniform corrosion performance in seawater, HF acid, and caustic service. It is formable and weldable for fabricated equipment.

316L stainless steel suffers chloride pitting above 25°C and stress corrosion cracking above 60°C in seawater. Monel 400 prevents both. Monel-clad carbon steel plate provides Monel corrosion resistance on the process side with carbon steel backing for large vessels.

Available Grades of Monel Sheet & Plate

Nicorex Alloys stocks Monel sheets and plates in 2 grades.

Monel 400 Sheet & Plate

Monel 400 is the primary sheet and plate grade worldwide, covered by ASTM B127, QQ-N-281, and AMS 4544. It resists flowing seawater, hydrofluoric acid at all concentrations, and caustic alkalis. It is spark-resistant and weldable using ERNiCu-7 (AWS A5.14) or ENiCu-7 (AWS A5.11) filler metals. ASME SB-127 approves it for pressure vessel builds.

Monel K-500 Sheet & Plate

K-500 is a precipitation-hardenable version of Monel 400 with aluminium and titanium additions. Age-hardened tensile strength reaches 965 MPa minimum with the same seawater corrosion resistance as Monel 400. No dedicated ASTM sheet/plate specification exists for K-500.

Industries and Applications of Monel Sheet & Plate

Monel sheets and plates serve industries where seawater and acid exposure are common.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Difference Between Monel Sheet and Monel Plate?
Sheet is product up to 4.76 mm thick with a 2B or 2D finish. Plate is thicker than 4.76 mm with a No. 1 descaled finish. Both fall under ASTM B127 and ship with EN 10204-3.1 certificates.
The thickness ranges from 0.4 to 100 mm; the width ranges up to 1500 mm for sheet and up to 2500 mm for plate; length goes up to 12000 mm. We at Nicorex Alloys also provide custom lengths.
Cold rolled Monel sheets have a smoother surface finish, better flatness, and more accurate dimensions. They are commonly used for tanks, vessels, and fabrication work where a clean finish and precision are important. Hot rolled Monel plates are thicker and come with a rougher mill finish. These plates are mainly used for heavy structural applications, large vessels, and cladding work.
