What are Inconel Round Bars?

Inconel round bars are solid cylindrical products made from nickel-chromium superalloys. These alloys keep their strength above 1000°F (538°C), where stainless steels like 304 and 316 fail. Hot forging produces larger bars. Cold drawing and centerless grinding give tighter tolerances. Nickel provides high-temperature stability, and chromium adds oxidation resistance.

Available Grades of Inconel Round Bars

Nicorex Alloys stocks Inconel round bars in 5 grades.

Inconel 600 Round Bars

Inconel 600 is a solid-solution Ni-Cr alloy that offers strong oxidation and chloride stress cracking resistance and is commonly used in furnace components and chemical processing equipment. It meets ASTM B166 and AMS 5665 standards.

Inconel 601 Round Bars

The high chromium content (21–25%) provides oxidation resistance up to 2200°F (1200°C). This makes Inconel 601 suitable for thermal processing and radiant tubes. It meets ASTM B166 and AMS 5715 standards.

Inconel 625 Round Bars

This Ni-Cr-Mo-Nb alloy offers strong fatigue strength and corrosion resistance. It is listed in NACE MR0175 and is widely used in aerospace and marine applications under ASTM B446 and AMS 5666.

Inconel 718 Round Bars

This precipitation-hardenable superalloy provides outstanding strength from cryogenic temperatures to 1300°F (704°C). It complies with NACE MR0175, and is used in jet engines and downhole tools per ASTM B637 and AMS 5662/5663/5664.

Incoloy 825 Round Bars

Incoloy 825 is a Ni-Fe-Cr-Mo-Cu alloy with strong acid and seawater resistance. It is used in oil and gas and chemical processing. This grade complies with the ASTM B425 standard.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Inconel Round Bar?
Inconel round bars are solid cylindrical products manufactured from nickel-chromium-based superalloys. They retain exceptional strength, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance at temperatures where stainless steels would fail. At Nicorex, these round bars are available in grades 600, 601, 625, 718, and 825.
ASTM B166 covers 600 and 601. ASTM B446 covers 625. ASTM B637 covers 718. ASTM B425 covers 825.
Standard diameters from 5 mm to 500 mm (0.125″ to ~14″). Larger sizes can be forged on order. Lengths typically 100 mm to 6000 mm in random, fixed, or cut-to-length options.
Yes. Inconel alloys work-harden fast. Use carbide or ceramic tooling at low cutting speeds. Keep the tool engaged with enough chip depth below the hardened layer.
Yes. Use grade-specific fillers: ERNiCr-3 for 600, ERNiCrMo-3 for 625, and ERNiFeCr-2 for 718 per AWS A5.14.
Inconel round bars are available in bright (cold drawn & polished), black (hot finished), rough turned, peeled, centerless ground, and polished finishes.
8.44 g/cm³ (0.305 lb/in³). Inconel 718: 8.19 g/cm³ (0.296 lb/in³). Inconel 600: 8.47 g/cm³ (0.306 lb/in³). Weight formula: Weight (kg) = π/4 × D² × L × density.
