Round Bar

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified supplier and stockist of round bars across nickel alloy, duplex, super duplex and speciality steel grades based in Mumbai, India.

A round bar is a solid cylindrical metal product made from billets by hot rolling, forging or cold drawing. In the metals trade, a bar is a straight length with controlled diameter tolerances for machining. A rod is a smaller-diameter round product under 25 mm. We stock bars and rods in many alloys, including Hastelloy C276, C22 and C2000, Inconel 600, 625 and 718, Incoloy 800, 800H, 800HT and 825, Monel 400 and K500, Nickel 200 and 201, Nimonic 75, 80A and 90, XM-19 or Nitronic 50, Alloy 20, Duplex S31803 or S32205 and Super Duplex S32750 or S32760. We stock hot rolled black bars, cold drawn bright bars, centreless ground bars, peeled bars and forged bars. Every bar is supplied with EN 10204/3.1B mill test certificates and PMI reports. Each order comes with full material traceability from mill to dispatch.

Our round bars are available from 3 mm to 500 mm in diameter, with custom forged bars up to 800 mm. Lengths range from 1 m to 6 m in random or fixed sizes, and we also offer customisation to your required length. We offer h6, h7, h9, and h11 tolerances, with black, bright, or ground finishes.

3–6 −0.008 −0.012 −0.030 −0.075
6–10 −0.009 −0.015 −0.036 −0.090
10–18 −0.011 −0.018 −0.043 −0.110

Use h6 for precision shafts, h7 for pump plungers, h9 for valve stems and fastener blanks, and h11 for machining stock; default to h11 on hot-rolled bars and h9 on ground bars.

Available Bar Shapes

Nicorex stocks round bars, hex bars, square bars, flat bars, threaded bars, hollow bars, bright bars, black bars, and forged bars across nickel alloy, duplex, super duplex, and speciality steel grades.

roundbars

Round Bar

Round Bar is used for shafts, studs, valve stems, and fastener blanks. We supply these bars in many diameters and in hot rolled, cold drawn, ground or forged form.

Rod

Rod is a smaller round bar, usually under 25 mm in diameter. Found in straight lengths for small machined parts, it is further processed for wire rods.

Hex Bars

Hex Bar

Hex Bar has six flat sides and is supplied in sets across flat sizes and used to make bolt heads, nuts, and various fittings.

square-bar

Square Bar

Square bar has four equal sides and sharp corners and is used for brackets, keys, small frames, and parts needing a flat bearing surface.

Flat Bars

Flat Bar

Flat Bar: A flat rectangular bar with thickness from 3 mm to 50 mm and width from 10 mm to 200 mm, suited for wear strips and base plates.

Threaded Rods

Threaded Bar

Threaded Bar has threads along its full length, available in metric sizes from M8 to M100. It is used for bolting parts all the way through and for making custom studs.

Hollow Bar

Hollow Bar

Hollow Bar is a smooth, hollow tube with an outer diameter of 20 to 300 mm that is used for bushings, valve bodies, and other cylindrical parts to reduce internal work.

Bright Bars

Bright Bar

Bright Bar is a cold-drawn or centreless ground bar with a clean, oxide-free surface, supplied in h9 or h11 diameter tolerance as per ISO 286-2.

Super Duplex Black Bar

Black Bar

Black Bar is a hot-rolled round bar with a dark, scaled surface applied in conditions where surface finish is not critical before machining.

Forged Bar

Forged Bar

Forged Bar is produced by open-die forging. Applied to large, stressed components that need high strength, and sound internal quality.

Round Bar Weight Calculation

The table below shows the weight per meter of round bars for different diameters and alloys, using commonly accepted density values.
Consumable TypeStorage ConditionExposure LimitRe-Baking
Low-H Electrodes (ENiCrMo, E7018, E8018)Holding oven 100-150°CMax 4 hr atmosphereRe-bake 350–400°C x 1–2 hr

Sealed consumables carry a shelf life of 2 to 5 years. Opened low-hydrogen electrodes must be used within 4 to 8 hours or re-baked per AWS A5.11 and AWS D1.1 requirements. Damaged packaging means the consumable must not be used.

Industrial Applications of Round Bars

Round bars are used in many industries to machine strong and corrosion-resistant parts. The right material is chosen based on temperature, pressure and the type of corrosive environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a round bar and a rod?
A round bar and a rod are both cylindrical metal products, but they differ mainly in size, form and application. Round bars are thicker, solid pieces used for strong structural parts. Rods are thinner, more flexible, and used for smaller, precise or wear-resistant components.
NACE MR0175 hardness limits depend on the material’s condition and service. Monel K500 is usually limited to about 35 HRC, while Inconel 718 varies with heat treatment and use.
Common diameters are 6-300 mm, and typical sizes include 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, 100, 120, 150, 200, 250, 300 mm.
The following formula can be used to calculate round bar weight: Weight (kg/m) = (π/4 × D² × density) ÷ 1,000,000. For nickel alloys, using the steel density formula gives 7-13% lower weight than actual.
Hot-rolled bars have a scaled surface, loose h11 tolerance, and lower cost. Cold-drawn bars have a smooth surface, tighter tolerances, and higher strength for precise parts.
Typical ASTM bar standards, include Inconel 600 B166, 625 B446, 718 B637; Hastelloy C276/C22 B574; Monel 400 B164, K500 B865; Nickel 200/201 B160; Incoloy 800 B408, 825 B425; Duplex A276.
The price of round bars in India depends on grade, diameter, form, quantity, and metal market rates. Ground bars usually cost 15-30% more than hot-rolled bars.
Yes. Round bars are commonly used to machine fasteners like bolts and studs. Inconel 718 and Monel K500 suit high-strength and demanding applications.
