Chemical Composition of Hastelloy C22 Pipe Fittings
The chemical composition of Hastelloy C22 pipe fittings per ASTM B366 conforms to UNS N06022, with the same Cr-Mo balance that defines C22’s versatility.

B366 buttweld fittings are made from B622 seamless pipe, B619 welded pipe, or B575 plate. At crevice-prone geometries, C22 fittings’ 22% Cr drives passive film stability and gives them an 80°C CCT advantage over C276 fittings (55°C).
Mechanical Properties of Hastelloy C22 Pipe Fittings
ASTM B366 sets the minimum strength requirements for Hastelloy C22 (UNS N06022):
| Property |
Tensile Strength, min |
Yield Strength 0.2%, min |
Elongation, min |
Hardness, max (sour service) |
Charpy V-Notch Impact, typical (RT) |
Charpy V-Notch Impact, typical (-196°C) |
| Value / Condition |
690 MPa (100 ksi) — ASTM B366, RT |
310 MPa (45 ksi) — ASTM B366, RT |
45% — ASTM B366, RT |
241 HBW (≤35 HRC) — NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 |
568 J (419 ft-lbf) — RT |
469 J (346 ft-lbf) — −196°C |
For cryogenic or low-temperature service, specify Charpy impact as a complement to B366. For NACE MR0175 sour service, solution-annealed HBW must be ≤241. All fittings must be solution annealed at 1121–1177°C with rapid water quenching after final forming.
Physical Properties of Hastelloy C22 Pipe Fittings
Physical properties of Hastelloy C22 fittings relevant to piping system weight calculations and thermal design are listed below.
| Property |

| Value |
8.69 g/cm³ (0.314 lb/in³) |

10.1 W/m·°C at 50°C |
206 GPa at RT |

Non-magnetic |
C22 fittings weigh approximately 9% more than equivalent 316L fittings (8.69 vs 7.98 g/cm³) but ~2% less than C276 fittings (8.89 g/cm³). For large-bore overhead piping, the weight difference between C22 and C276 fittings is negligible.

Hastelloy C22 pipe fittings serve the same industries as C22 piping, with particular value where crevice-prone fitting geometries face aggressive chloride and acid environments.
How to Order Hastelloy C22 Pipe Fittings
from Nicorex Alloys
To order Hastelloy C22 pipe fittings from Nicorex Alloys, provide the following details:
C22 fittings pair with either C22 or C276 pipe using ERNiCrMo-10 filler metal. Specify matching fittings for all joints to avoid a single corrosion-vulnerable fitting compromising the system.
