Hastelloy C276 Fasteners

Hastelloy C276 Fasteners Supplier in Mumbai, India – Bolts, Nuts & Screws

Nicorex Alloys is a supplier, importer and stockist of Hastelloy C276 fasteners in Mumbai, India. Products are supplied in accordance with ASTM F468 (bolts/studs) and ASTM F467 (nuts), with bar stock as per ASTM B574.

The mechanical properties include tensile 690 MPa (100 ksi), yield 283 MPa (41 ksi) and elongation 40%. We offer Hastelloy C276 hex bolts, stud bolts, SHCS, nuts, lock nuts, washers, threaded rods, U-bolts, anchor bolts, set screws and eye bolts in sizes M6–M100 and 1/4”–4”. All fasteners are in accordance with NACE MR0175 and supported by ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. Wet chlorine gas destroys every austenitic stainless steel bolt in service. Hastelloy C276 fasteners resist it. The balanced 57% Ni, 16% Cr, 16% Mo, and 4% W composition handles both oxidising and reducing media in a single alloy. Alloy C-276 (UNS N10276, Werkstoff 2.4819) bolting withstands wet chlorine, ferric chloride, hot contaminated mineral acids, and mixed-acid environments simultaneously.

The 3.0–4.5% tungsten addition distinguishes C276 from other C-family alloys. Tungsten works with 16% molybdenum to provide exceptional reducing-acid resistance in H₂SO₄ and HCl service. Ultra-low carbon (0.01% max) and silicon (0.08% max) prevent carbide and intermetallic precipitation during welding, so C276 bolts retain full corrosion resistance in as-welded flange assemblies.

Chemical Composition of Hastelloy C276 Fasteners

The chemical composition of Hastelloy C276 fasteners, as mentioned in ASTM F468 / B574 (UNS N10276), highlights its high nickel, molybdenum and tungsten content.
Element Nickel (Ni) Chromium (Cr) Molybdenum (Mo) Tungsten (W) Iron (Fe) Cobalt (Co) Vanadium (V) Carbon (C) Silicon (Si)
Composition (%) 57.0 min (balance) 14.5–16.5 15.0–17.0 3.0–4.5 4.0–7.0 2.5 max 0.35 max 0.01 max 0.08 max
16% molybdenum and 4% tungsten together make a material that is more resistant to reducing acids than Inconel 625 (9% Mo, no W) and Hastelloy C22 (13% Mo, 3% W). The 0.01% carbon ceiling stops carbide from forming in the weld heat-affected zone, which means that the C276 bolt threads and shank are completely corrosion-resistant without the need for post-weld heat treatment.

Mechanical Properties of Hastelloy Alloy C276 Fasteners

The mechanical properties of Hastelloy C276 fasteners, as per ASTM F468 in the solution-annealed condition, provide excellent strength and ductility.
Element Nickel (Ni) Molybdenum (Mo) Chromium (Cr) Tungsten (W) Iron (Fe) Cobalt (Co) Vanadium (V) Silicon (Si) Carbon (C)
Content (wt%) Balance 15.0 – 17.0 14.5 – 16.5 3.0 – 4.5 4.0 – 7.0 2.5 max 0.35 max 0.08 max 0.01 max
Mo at 15-17% is the highest among production C-family alloys. Tungsten at 3-4.5% strengthens resistance to localised corrosion in reducing chloride media. Ultra-low C (0.01%) and Si (0.08%) prevent carbide and intermetallic precipitation during welding, preserving intergranular corrosion resistance in the HAZ.

Alloy C276 Fastener Equivalent Grades

Hastelloy C276 fasteners are internationally recognised under multiple equivalent standards, including UNS N10276, Werkstoff 2.4819.
Standard System UNS Werkstoff Number DIN EN JIS
Equivalent Grade N10276 2.4819 NiMo16Cr15W NiMo16Cr15W NW0276

Always specify ASTM F468 for finished C276 fasteners, not B574 (bar stock). F468 carries fastener-specific mechanical requirements and testing.

Surface Finish and Coating Options for Hastelloy C276 Bolting Materials

  • Plain / Self-Colour: Standard; C276 inherently corrosion resistant
  • Passivated: Acid passivation to remove surface iron contamination
  • PTFE Coated: Thread coating for anti-galling and consistent torque-tension
  • Manganese Phosphate: Anti-galling thread treatment
  • Silver Plated: For high-temperature anti-seize on reactor studs (up to 650°C)
  • Anti-Seize: Nickel-based anti-seize mandatory for all Ni-Cr-Mo alloy assemblies
Note: Hot-dip galvanising is NOT applicable to C276. Zinc coating is unnecessary and may cause galvanic issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Price of Hastelloy C276 Fasteners per Kg in India?
Depending on the type, size, quantity, and current market prices for nickel and molybdenum, the price of C276 fasteners in India ranges from ₹3,500 to ₹7,000 per kg. Stud bolts and hex bolts are cheaper per kg than SHCS or custom-made fasteners. Contact Nicorex Alloys with your full specification for an accurate quotation.
C276 resists both oxidising AND reducing media simultaneously due to its balanced Cr-Mo-W composition. Most alloys resist one or the other. C276 handles wet chlorine, ferric chloride, hot mineral acids, and seawater, making it the default choice when process conditions are uncertain or variable.
C276 contains 3-4.5% tungsten and 16% Mo for superior reducing-acid resistance (H₂SO₄, HCl). C22 has higher Cr (22%) and no tungsten, giving better oxidising-acid resistance (HNO₃, FeCl₃). For mixed or uncertain media, C276 is the safer choice. For purely oxidising environments, C22 offers better pitting resistance.
Apply nickel-based anti-seize on threads before assembly. Specify PTFE-coated or manganese phosphate threads. Use slow, controlled torquing. For critical service, use silver-plated threads (high-temp) or specify a hardness differential between bolt and nut (e.g., cold-worked nut against annealed bolt).

Standard: EN 10204 Type 3.1 MTC with chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat number and lot traceability. Critical applications: EN 10204 3.2 (inspected by a third party). PMI, intergranular corrosion (ASTM G28), NACE hardness verification, and impact testing are some of the other tests that are done.
