Hastelloy C276 Pipes & Tubes Supplier in Mumbai, India

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified supplier, importer, and stockist for Hastelloy C276 seamless pipes, welded pipes, seamless tubes, and welded tubes based in Mumbai, India. We provide Alloy C276 pipes and tubes in accordance with the ASTM B622 / ASME SB622 standard.

UNS N10276 (Werkstoff 2.4819) is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten wrought alloy with a nominal balance of 57% Ni, 16% Cr, 16% Mo, 4% W, and 5% Fe. The alloy was developed to overcome the weld sensitisation problem of the original Alloy C. The extremely low carbon (≤0.01%) and silicon (≤0.08%) are the key innovations that made C276 weldable without post-weld sensitisation. PREN ≈69 (Cr + 3.3×Mo). CPT exceeds 150°C in acidified 6% FeCl₃. No SCC in boiling 45% MgCl₂ after 1008 hours. CCT of 55°C in 6% FeCl₃. Minimum tensile strength is 690 MPa (100 ksi), yield strength is 283 MPa (41 ksi), and elongation is 40%. Charpy impact is 479 J at RT, 519 J at -196°C. It is non-magnetic (permeability 1.0002) and has a density of 8.89 g/cm³. Hastelloy C276 is a nickel alloy with long-term proven continuous field performance across both oxidising and reducing acid environments simultaneously. No other commercially available alloy matches this versatility in piping service.

At Nicorex Alloys, we provide Hastelloy C276 pipes as per ASTM B622 (seamless) and B619 (welded), tubes as per B622 (seamless) and B626 (welded). Sizes range from NPS 1/2″ to 24″, OD 6.35–610 mm, SCH 5S through XXS. Solution annealed at 1121°C (2050°F) + rapid water quench. No PWHT required. Chemical Composition of Hastelloy C276 Pipes

N10276 chemical composition and its key alloying elements, as per ASTM B622, are covered in the table below:
Material / Element Nickel (Ni) Chromium (Cr) Molybdenum (Mo) Tungsten (W) Iron (Fe) Cobalt (Co) Vanadium (V) Silicon (Si) Carbon (C) Manganese (Mn) Phosphorus (P) Sulfur (S)
Spec Range (%) Balance 14.5–16.5 15.0–17.0 3.0–4.5 4.0–7.0 2.5 max 0.35 max 0.08 max 0.01 max 1.0 max 0.04 max 0.03 max
Nominal (%) Balance 16 16 4 5 0.08 0.01
Low carbon (≤0.01%) is the defining innovation. Original Alloy C had higher C, causing grain boundary carbide precipitation during welding. C276 eliminated this, making it safe as-welded without PWHT. Low Si (≤0.08%) prevents µ phase. Mo (16%) resists reducing acids (HCl, H₂SO₄). Cr (16%) handles oxidising media (HNO₃, FeCl₃). Tungsten (4%) adds pitting resistance. PREN = Cr + 3.3(Mo + 0.5W) ≈ 69.

Mechanical Properties of C276 Hastelloy Pipes & Tubes

As per ASTM B622, the mechanical properties of UNS N10276, including tensile and yield strength, elongation, and other key properties in the solution annealed condition at 1121°C:
Property Tensile Strength (min) Yield Strength 0.2% (min) Elongation (min) Hardness (typical) Charpy V-Notch (RT) Charpy V-Notch (-196°C) Tensile at 538°C
Value 690 MPa (100 ksi) 283 MPa (41 ksi) 40% ~83 HRB 479 J (353 ft-lbf) 519 J (383 ft-lbf) 601–613 MPa
C276 retains >600 MPa tensile at 538°C. Charpy impact increases at -196°C (519 J vs 479 J at RT), making C276 suitable for cryogenic and LNG piping. The 40% elongation enables field bending without cracking. Solid-solution strengthened (cannot be hardened by heat treatment).

Physical Properties of Hastelloy C276 Pipes & Tubes

C276 physical properties like density, melting point, thermal conductivity, elastic modulus, and other important properties are covered below:
Property Density Melting Range Specific Heat Thermal Conductivity (50°C) Modulus of Elasticity CTE (24–100°C) Magnetic Permeability Electrical Resistivity Poisson’s Ratio
Value 8.89 g/cm³ (0.321 lb/in³) 1323–1371°C (2415–2500°F) 427 J/kg·°C at RT 10.5 W/m·°C 205 GPa (29.8 × 10⁶ psi) 11.2 µm/m·°C 1.0002 — Non-magnetic 1.23 µΩ·m at RT 0.31

Low thermal conductivity (10.5 W/m·°C, ~60% below carbon steel) affects heat exchanger tube selection. Non-magnetic: critical for instrumentation and subsea metering. CTE 11.2 µm/m·°C is lower than austenitic stainless (~16), reducing thermal stress in piping.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ASTM Standard Covers Hastelloy C276 Seamless Pipe?

ASTM B622 / ASME SB622 covers seamless pipe and tube for N10276.

C276 pipe costs 8–12× more than 316L due to 57% Ni, 16% Mo, and 4% W. Price varies by diameter, schedule, and manufacturing. Contact Nicorex Alloys for current pricing.

Yes. C276 holds corrosion rates below 0.5 mm/yr in 10% HCl at 38°C and 5% HCl at 52°C. The 16% Mo drives this outstanding reducing-acid performance.

Up to 677°C (1250°F) for continuous service. For corrosion applications, consult Haynes’ iso-corrosion diagrams. Retains >600 MPa tensile at 538°C.

C276 has nearly double the Mo (16% vs 9%), giving far superior HCl and H₂SO₄ resistance. In standard FeCl₃ pitting tests, the critical pitting temperature (CPT) for C276 is above 150°C, compared to roughly 100°C for Alloy 625. Choose C276 for reducing acids, wet chlorine, and FGD. Inconel 625 offers higher tensile (827 vs 690 MPa) at a lower cost for oxidising service.
