What are Duplex Steel Round Bars?
Duplex steel round bars are solid cylindrical products with a balanced 50/50 austenite-ferrite microstructure. The primary grade is 2205 (UNS S31803 / S32205, Werkstoff 1.4462). Bars are hot worked at 1875–2050°F (1025–1120°C) and solution annealed at 1900°F (1040°C) minimum. Duplex 2205 has 450 MPa yield versus 205 MPa for 316L. Its PREN of about 35 gives better pitting resistance, and the two-phase structure provides near-immunity to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Duplex 2304 is a lean duplex grade with lower molybdenum and nickel. Its PREN is about 25 with a yield of 400 MPa (58 ksi). It replaces 316L where SCC resistance is needed.
