Super duplex stainless steel has a 50/50 austenite-ferrite microstructure with 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 4% molybdenum, and 0.20–0.30% nitrogen. This gives a minimum yield strength of 550 MPa (80 ksi) and a PREN above 40. Industries served include offshore oil and gas, subsea engineering, chemical processing, desalination, and marine engineering.

What Are Super Duplex Steel Round Bars?

Super duplex steel round bars are solid cylindrical products made from super duplex stainless steel. The primary grade is SAF 2507 (UNS S32750). UNS S32760 (Zeron 100) adds tungsten and copper for better crevice corrosion resistance. Bars are hot worked at 1025–1230°C, solution annealed at 1040°C minimum, and rapidly quenched. Compared to Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507 has a PREN of about 42 versus 35 and a CPT of 85°C versus 35°C.

Super Duplex 2507 Round Bar

Super Duplex 2507 is the most widely used super duplex grade. It is a 25Cr-7Ni-4Mo alloy with PREN of about 42 and yield of 550 MPa. This grade resists chloride SCC, pitting, and organic acids. It is covered under ASTM A276 / A479 and ASTM A182 F53.

Super Duplex S32760 Round Bar

Super Duplex S32760 is also known as Zeron 100. It adds tungsten and copper for better crevice corrosion resistance in stagnant seawater. S32760 is covered under ASTM A276 / A479 and ASTM A182 F55.
