Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 Fasteners Supplier in Mumbai, India
Commercially pure nickel is the only material that resists all concentrations of caustic soda (NaOH) from dilute solutions at room temperature to molten caustic above 600°C. No stainless steel, no Monel, no Hastelloy covers that full range. For caustic evaporator flange bolting, chlor-alkali cell hardware, and food-grade reactor studs, Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 fasteners are irreplaceable. Both grades share identical 99.0% Ni minimum purity. The only difference is carbon: Nickel 200 (UNS N02200) carries 0.15% C max, while Nickel 201 (UNS N02201) carries 0.02% C max. That single difference determines temperature suitability. Above 315°C (600°F), the higher carbon in Nickel 200 precipitates as graphite at grain boundaries, causing intergranular embrittlement (graphitization). Nickel 201 eliminates this risk entirely. Both grades are ferromagnetic, which distinguishes them from most nickel alloys. Electrical conductivity is roughly 5× higher than stainless steel, making CP Nickel the standard plater bar bolting material in the electroplating industry.
Nicorex Alloys is a supplier, importer, and stockist of Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 fasteners in Mumbai, India. Supplied per ASTM F468 (bolts/studs, UNS N02200) and ASTM F467 (nuts). Bar stock per ASTM B160. Nickel 200 tensile: 380 MPa (55 ksi). Yield: 100 MPa (15 ksi). Elongation: 40%. Types: Nickel 200 bolts, stud bolts, SHCS, nuts, lock nuts, washers, Nickel 201 threaded rods, U-bolts, eye bolts. Sizes: M6 to M100 / 1/4” to 4”. Most fasteners are dual-certified to both N02200 and N02201 when actual carbon falls below 0.02%. ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 certified.
Nickel 200 Fastener Specifications
Below are the key specifications for Nickel 200 fasteners, covering ASTM standards, material grades, bolt sizes and thread types.
| Material Standard | ASTM B160 / ASME SB160 |
|---|---|
| Fastener Standards | ASTM F467 (Nuts) / ASTM F468 (Bolts, Screws, Studs) |
| Size | 3 mm to 200 mm |
| Bolt / Screw Size | M3 – M56 |
| Nuts Size | M3 – M56 |
| Washers Size | M1 – M64 |
| Length | 3 mm to 300 mm |
| Thread Type | UNC, UNF, Metric, BSW |
| Form | Bolts, Nuts, Stud Bolts, Screws, Washers |
ASTM F468 lists UNS N02200 (Nickel 200) as a covered designation. Nickel 201 (N02201) is not separately listed, but dual-certified material meeting N02201 carbon limits is routinely supplied. For bolting above 315°C, always specify Nickel 201 to prevent graphitisation
Chemical Composition of Nickel 200 & 201 Fasteners
The following table specifies the chemical compositions of Nickel 200 and 201 fasteners, listing the amounts of their key elements.
| Element | Nickel (Ni) | Carbon (C) | Manganese (Mn) | Iron (Fe) | Silicon (Si) | Copper (Cu) | Sulfur (S) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Value 1 | 99.0 min | 0.15 max | 0.35 max | 0.40 max | 0.35 max | 0.25 max | 0.010 max |
| Value 2 | 99.0 min | 0.02 max | 0.35 max | 0.40 max | 0.35 max | 0.25 max | 0.010 max |
Carbon content is the only difference. Above 315°C (600°F), the 0.15% carbon in Nickel 200 migrates to grain boundaries and precipitates as graphite, causing intergranular embrittlement. Nickel 201’s ultra-low 0.02% C eliminates this risk, making it mandatory for molten caustic soda handling at 350–600°C. When the actual carbon content is ≤0.02%, the material is dual-certified to both N02200 and N02201 simultaneously.
Mechanical Properties of Nickel 200 Fasteners
This table lists the mechanical properties of Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 fasteners in the annealed condition, as specified by ASTM B160.
| Grade | Tensile Strength (min) | Yield 0.2% (min) | Elongation (min) | Hardness (max) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nickel 200 | 380 MPa (55 ksi) | 100 MPa (15 ksi) | 40% | 60 HRB |
| Nickel 201 | 345 MPa (50 ksi) | 85 MPa (12 ksi) | 40% | 55 HRB |
Cold-worked bar reaches up to 760 MPa (110 ksi) tensile and 690 MPa (100 ksi) yield for either grade. Nickel 200/201 fasteners are not selected for high strength. They are selected for corrosion immunity in caustic and reducing environments. The 40% elongation provides bolt ductility for thermal cycling without fatigue failure. For higher preload in the same corrosive environment, consider Monel K-500 (115 ksi yield) or Monel 400 (35 ksi yield).
200 Nickel Fastener Equivalent Grades
Here are the international equivalent grades for Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 fasteners, showing their equivalent material designations under UNS, Werkstoff, BS, JIS and EN standards.
| Grade | UNS | Werkstoff | BS | JIS | EN |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nickel 200 | N02200 | 2.4066 | NA11 | NW2200 | Ni 99.2 |
| Nickel 201 | N02201 | 2.4068 | NA12 | NW2201 | LC-Ni 99 |

Surface Finish and Coating Options 201 Nickel Fasteners
Standard finish is plain/self-colour CP Nickel, which forms a stable protective oxide layer. Bright annealing is used for electronics and food-grade applications needing a clean surface. Electropolishing is used for pharmaceutical purity. Use nickel-based anti-seize on threads. Extra coatings are rarely needed because nickel is inherently corrosion-resistant. Zinc, cadmium, or chromium plating is not recommended, as they reduce performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does ASTM F468 cover Nickel 200 Fasteners?
Yes. UNS N02200 (Nickel 200) is listed in ASTM F468 for nonferrous bolts and studs. Nuts fall under ASTM F467. F468 covers N02200 as a listed designation; Nickel 201 (N02201) is not separately listed, but dual-certified material is routinely supplied under the N02200 designation.
What is the difference between Nickel 200 and Nickel 201?
Nickel 200 and 201 differ only in carbon: 0.15% max vs 0.02% max. Other chemistry, corrosion resistance and physical properties are effectively the same. Above 315°C (600°F), Nickel 200 can graphitise and become embrittled. Nickel 201 avoids this and is preferred.
Can Nickel 200/201 Fasteners be used in Food Processing?
Yes. Commercially pure nickel is FDA-compliant and USDA-approved for direct food-contact equipment. The 99%+ purity introduces no harmful contaminants. Nickel 200 fasteners are routinely used in dairy processing, sugar refining, beverage production and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
When should I specify Nickel 201 instead of Nickel 200 for Fasteners?
Specify Nickel 201 whenever operating temperature exceeds 315°C (600°F). Below 315°C, Nickel 200 or dual-certified 200/201 is acceptable. Applications requiring Nickel 201: molten caustic soda handling (350–600°C), combustion boat hardware, high-temperature catalyst support bolting and any connection exposed to sustained temperatures above 315°C.
