Nimonic 75 Round Bars

Nimonic 75 Round Bars Supplier in Mumbai, India

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 certified supplier in Mumbai, India. We supply Nickel‑Chromium Alloy 75 bars accompanied by EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates and positive material identification (PMI) reports. Nimonic 75 round bar delivers oxidation resistance up to 1000°C combined with medium-strength performance for gas turbine, furnace, and heat-treatment applications. This 80/20 nickel-chromium alloy (UNS N06075, W.Nr. 2.4951 / 2.4630) gains moderate creep strength from controlled titanium (0.20-0.60%) and carbon (0.08-0.15%) additions that form stable carbides within the matrix. Alloy 75 is a solid-solution-strengthened grade. It does not respond to age hardening, which simplifies processing and makes it ideal for welded fabrications. In the solution-treated condition, where Nimonic 75 bar is heated at 1050°C for 30–60 minutes and then air cooled, it provides a tensile strength of about 650 MPa (94 ksi) and a proof stress of 240 MPa (35 ksi), with at least 25% elongation and a maximum hardness of 230 HB. At 800°C, the tensile strength reduces to around 200 MPa, but the material remains ductile, so it is well suited for components operating at moderate stress levels in the 600–900°C temperature range. Weldability is excellent; no post-weld heat treatment is normally required per ASTM B637 and BS HR5. Bar stock is available in diameters from 6 mm up to 300 mm and in standard lengths from 1 to 6 metres, supplied in accordance with BS HR5, BS HR504, DIN 17752, and ISO 9723. Products can be ordered as round bar, rod, hex bar, flat bar, rectangular bar, or forged bar, offered in hot-rolled, cold-drawn, and centreless-ground finishes to suit machining and fabrication requirements.

Nimonic 75 vs Nimonic 80A - Selecting the Right Bar Grade

Selection comparison:

Parameter Nimonic 75 Nimonic 80A
Strengthening Solid Solution Precipitation (γ′)
Max Service Temp ~1000°C (oxidation) ~815°C (creep)
Tensile Strength (RT) 650 MPa 1000+ MPa (aged)
Weldability Excellent, no PWHT Good, ST before welding
Typical Bar Use Furnace fixtures, sheaths Turbine blades, fasteners

Specify Nimonic 75 when weldability and oxidation resistance matter more than peak strength. Choose Nimonic 80A when creep-rupture performance under sustained loading above 600°C is the primary design driver.

Chemical Composition of Nimonic 75 Bar & Rod

Chemical composition limits for Nimonic 75 alloy as defined in the BS HR5 standard and UNS N06075 specifications:

Nickel (Ni) Chromium (Cr) Titanium (Ti) Carbon (C) Iron (Fe) Silicon (Si) Manganese (Mn) Copper (Cu)
Balance (≥72%) 18.0 – 21.0 0.20 – 0.60 0.08 – 0.15 5.0 max 1.0 max 1.0 max 0.5 max
The 80/20 nickel‑chromium base resists oxidation by forming a stable chromium oxide layer. Titanium and carbon create carbides that give moderate creep strength without the need for precipitation hardening.

Mechanical Properties of Nimonic 75 Round Bar

Mechanical property values of Nimonic 75 alloy after solution treatment at 1050°C, followed by air cooling, including strength and ductility:

0.2% Proof Stress Tensile Strength Elongation (4D gauge) Reduction of Area Hardness
240 MPa (35 ksi) 650 MPa (94 ksi) ≥25% ≥45% ≤230 HB
At 800°C, tensile strength drops to ~200 MPa, but ductility is retained. This makes Nimonic 75 bar suitable for moderate-stress components in the 600-900°C range, where oxidation resistance is the primary design driver.

Hot Working, Cold Working & Heat Treatment of Nimonic 75 Bar

Hot work at 1220-950°C. Forging, rolling, and upsetting are standard practices within this range. Annealed Nimonic 75 has good ductility; rapid strain hardening allows large cold reductions without rupture in the drawn bar. Solution treated at 1050°C for 30-60 minutes, air cooled. No ageing treatment is required. Weld by TIG, MIG, MMA, or submerged-arc using matched consumables. No post-weld heat treatment is normally needed. Weld decay does not occur in the HAZ.

Industries & Applications Using Nimonic 75 Round Bars

Nimonic 75 round bars serve critical high-temperature duties across gas turbine, furnace, nuclear, petrochemical, and power-generation industries worldwide.
