Inconel 600 Pipes & Fittings

Inconel 600 Pipes and Fittings Supplier in Mumbai, India

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 certified supplier of Inconel 600 pipes and pipe fittings based in Mumbai, India. We supply seamless and welded pipes per ASTM B167 / B516 / B517 / B829 / B163, with matching buttweld fittings per ASTM B366 (Grade WPNCI).

Inconel 600 is also known as Alloy 600, UNS N06600, and Werkstoff 2.4816. With 72% Ni minimum, 14-17% Cr, and 6-10% Fe, this solid-solution-strengthened nickel-chromium-iron alloy resists high-temperature oxidation, carburisation, nitriding, and chloride stress corrosion cracking where other nickel alloys fail. The alloy maintains useful strength up to 1093°C (2000°F) and retains full ductility at cryogenic temperatures. Furnace retorts above 1000°C, nuclear PWR steam generators, and caustic evaporator piping all demand Inconel 600. All products meet ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I, III, and VIII. They have a minimum tensile strength of 550 MPa (80 ksi), a minimum yield strength of 240 MPa (35 ksi), and a minimum elongation of 30%. Pipe sizes range from NPS 1/2″ to 24″ in schedules SCH 5S through XXS. Fittings are available as seamless (1/2″–10″) and welded (1/2″–48″) in elbows, tees, reducers, caps, and stub ends.

Inconel 600 pipes and fittings are used in heat treatment and furnace systems, nuclear power plants, chemical processing (caustic soda and chlor-alkali), aerospace, oil and gas, and food processing. Each shipment includes EN 10204/3.1 mill test certificates, PMI reports, and complete traceability.

Chemical Composition of Inconel 600 Pipe & Fittings

Shows the ASTM B167-based chemical composition of Inconel 600 pipes and fittings, listing key elements and permitted ranges.
Material / Element Nickel (Ni) Chromium (Cr) Iron (Fe) Carbon (C) Manganese (Mn) Silicon (Si) Copper (Cu) Sulfur (S)
Min (%) 72.0 14.0 6.0
Max (%) 17.0 10.0 0.15 1.00 0.50 0.50 0.015
The alloy contains about 72% nickel, which helps it resist reducing environments, caustic alkalis, and chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC). Chromium at 14–17% delivers oxidation and sulfidation resistance. Unlike Hastelloy C276, Alloy 600 contains no molybdenum or tungsten and is not designed for strong acid service. Its strength lies in high-temperature oxidation, carburisation resistance, and caustic environments.

Mechanical Properties of Inconel 600 Pipes & Fittings

Mechanical performance data for Inconel 600 pipes and fittings in the annealed state, specified according to ASTM B167 requirements:
Property Tensile Strength (min) Yield 0.2% Offset (min) Elongation (min) Hardness (typical) Modulus of Elasticity
Value 550 MPa (80 ksi) 240 MPa (35 ksi) 30% 75–90 HRB 214 GPa (31 × 10⁶ psi)
Alloy 600 retains 310 MPa tensile at 538°C and 207 MPa at 760°C. No ductile-to-brittle transition at cryogenic temperatures. Cold working can raise tensile strength to 1520 MPa (220 ksi).

Frequently Asked Questions

What ASTM Standard Covers Inconel 600 Seamless Pipe?
ASTM B167 / ASME SB167 covers seamless pipe and tube. ASTM B163 covers condenser/heat-exchanger tubes. Welded: B517 (pipe), B516 (tube). Fittings: B366 (buttweld WPNCI).
1093°C (2000°F) for continuous service. The alloy maintains useful strength and oxidation resistance throughout this range. At cryogenic temperatures, it retains full ductility without brittle failure.
Alloy 600 has moderate acid resistance and is not the first choice for concentrated acid service. Its strength lies in caustic alkalis, high-purity water, and high-temperature environments. For strong acids such as HCl, H₂SO₄, and HF, it’s better to use Hastelloy C276 or C22 rather than Inconel 600.
Prices vary with size, schedule, seamless or welded type, quantity, and nickel prices. Contact Nicorex Alloys for the latest price list.
Yes. ASME BPVC approved for Sections I, III, and VIII. Standard material for PWR steam generator tubing due to high-purity water corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength.
ASTM B167 applies to nickel‑chromium‑iron alloys (N06600, N06601, N06690) used for seamless pipes and tubes. B829 is a more general standard that covers many nickel alloys. Both give the same product quality; B167 is specific to certain alloys, while B829 is a general specification.
