Alloy 600 consists of 72% Ni, 14–17% Cr, and 6–10% Fe. It is a solid-solution strengthened nickel-chromium-iron material that forms a tenacious Cr₂O₃ scale for oxidation resistance to 1093°C (2000°F). The 72% nickel base provides excellent immunity to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking. As they don’t contain special elements like molybdenum or niobium, Alloy 600 is also a cost-effective option. Furnace muffles, nuclear reactor internals, and caustic soda evaporators need alloys that resist oxidation, carburisation, and chloride stress corrosion cracking at elevated temperatures at a reasonable budget, where inconel 600 fasteners provide excellent performance.
The Inconel 600 fasteners correspond to UNS N06600 and Werkstoff number 2.4816.
