ERNiCr-3 Welding Wire (Filler Metal 82) Supplier in Mumbai, India

Nicorex Alloys is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified supplier and stockist of ERNiCr-3 (Filler Metal 82) welding wire in Mumbai, India. We provide these welding wires as classified under AWS A5.14 (UNS N06082, AMS 5836, ASME SFA-5.14, EN ISO 18274 S Ni 6082, DIN W.Nr 2.4806, F-43).

This Ni-Cr system contains ~72% Ni, 20% Cr, 3% Mn, and 2.5% Nb with no intentional molybdenum. High manganese at 2.5–3.5% sets ERNiCr-3 apart from every other nickel filler. Niobium at 2–3% strengthens the weld deposit and resists hot cracking, while service temperature reaches ~760°C (1400°F) in oxidising environments. It improves wetting, fluidity, and bead appearance while reducing porosity risk. The filler supports GTAW, GMAW, SAW, and PAW, the widest process range of any nickel alloy consumable. ERNiCr-3 welds Inconel 600, 601, 690, Incoloy 800/800H/800HT, Alloy 330, Nickel 200, Monel 400, stainless steels, and carbon steels, making it one of the most versatile nickel fillers for dissimilar metal joints. We stock this nickel chromium filler wire as TIG rods, MIG spools, and SAW coils for immediate dispatch with MTC 3.1 per EN 10204.

Nicorex Alloys exports ERNiCr-3 filler wire for nuclear power, petrochemical, power generation, oil and gas, cryogenic LNG, and chemical processing fabricators. Low cobalt (≤0.12%) makes the wire suitable for nuclear-grade service. Every shipment carries MTC 3.1 per EN 10204, with PMI and third-party inspection available on request.

AWS Classification Explained: ERNiCr-3 (TIG/MIG Wire)

The AWS A5.14 designation ERNiCr-3 breaks down as follows:
Designation Element Meaning
ER Electrode/Rod: bare filler metal for GTAW, GMAW, and SAW
Ni Nickel base: 67% minimum Ni content
Cr Chromium as primary alloying element: 18-22%
-3 Third alloy in the NiCr series, matching Inconel 82 (Ni-20Cr-3Mn-2.5Nb)

ERNiCr-7 (Inconel 52) has ~30% Cr. ERNiCr-3 contains no molybdenum and costs less than ERNiCrMo-3 (625): preferred when Mo-bearing corrosion resistance is not required, which covers most structural DMW applications.

Chemical Composition of ERNiCr-3 Weld Deposit (%)

The chemical composition of the ERNiCR-3 Weld Deposit, along with its proportion in percentage, is listed below in the table:
Specification Nickel (Ni) Chromium (Cr) Manganese (Mn) Iron (Fe) Niobium + Tantalum (Nb+Ta) Titanium (Ti) Silicon (Si) Carbon (C) Copper (Cu) Cobalt (Co) Phosphorus (P) Sulfur (S)
AWS Requirement 67.0 min 18.0–22.0 2.5–3.5 3.0 max 2.0–3.0 (Ta 0.30 max) 0.75 max 0.50 max 0.10 max 0.50 max 0.12 max 0.03 max 0.015 max
Typical ~72% 20.0 3.0 1.5 2.5 0.3 0.25 0.05 0.1 0.05 0.01 0.005
*Co restricted to 0.12% max for nuclear applications (Co-60 activation concern). Standard commercial heats may contain higher Co. ERNiCr-3 contains high manganese and niobium for smooth welding, strong deposits, and reduced hot cracking. It has no molybdenum, so it does not resist pitting or crevice corrosion. Low iron keeps it a nickel-base alloy, and very low cobalt makes it suitable for nuclear applications.

All-Weld-Metal Mechanical Properties of ERNiCr-3

Nicorex Alloys provides ERNiCr-3 filler wire meeting the minimum and typical mechanical values mentioned below in the table.
Specification Tensile Strength Yield Strength (0.2%) Elongation
Minimum (AWS A5.14) 80,000 psi (552 MPa) — 30%
Typical 85,000–95,000 psi (586–655 MPa) 45,000–55,000 psi (310–379 MPa) 35–45%
ERNiCr-3 (80 ksi / 552 MPa) has lower tensile strength than ERNiCrMo-3/625 (110 ksi) by design, prioritising broad base-metal compatibility. Its FCC austenitic structure provides excellent cryogenic toughness for 9% Ni LNG steels. Above 760°C, use HAYNES 230-W or HASTELLOY X fillers.

Industrial Applications

Storage and Handling of ERNiCr-3 Welding Wire

ERNiCr-3 is a bare (uncoated) nickel alloy filler wire that requires no re-baking. The SMAW equivalent ENiCrFe-3 (Filler Metal 182) does require drying if exposed to moisture.

Store at 15–25°C, below 60% RH, sealed and away from carbon steel storage areas. Handle with clean gloves and dedicated stainless steel tools. When storing and handling ERNiCr-3 welding wire, you must guard against contamination from sulfur, lead, zinc, copper, and tin/bismuth/antimony. Clean the base metal 25 mm on each side of the joint with solvent, then mechanical abrasion. Shelf life is indefinite if sealed.

For nuclear-grade ERNiCr-3, maintain heat-lot segregation and chain-of-custody documentation per ASME III NCA-3800 / NB-2400 throughout storage.
