ER4043 has only 4.5-6% silicon and solidifies over a wider temperature range. ER4047, with about 12% silicon, solidifies in a very narrow range, giving excellent flow and the lowest shrinkage of common aluminium fillers.

ER4047 contains 11-13% silicon, over twice that of ER4043. This high silicon level lowers the melting point to about 573°C and greatly reduces shrinkage and porosity in the weld.

ER4047 fillet welds have higher shear strength than ER4043, which helps in automotive and structural joints, but their eutectic silicon structure makes them less ductile than ER5356.

Storage and Handling of ER4047 TIG Rod
Store ER4047 rods and spools in their original, sealed packaging in a clean, dry place. Keep them away from moisture, oil/grease and general shop dirt. Before welding, wipe the wire with a clean, lint-free cloth. If the packaging stays sealed, the shelf life is unlimited.
